I have a 40 Gallon refugium, and when I set it up, I added Culupra (grape) and Cheato. Well the Culupra took off! Grew like mad.. then one day..... it slowly quit growing, and the Cheato took off! Now the culupra is all but gone, DEAD and gone and the 40 gallon refugium is 3/4 full of cheato.. no joke. I started with a fist size portion of both. Any ideas why the culupra died off? Lights are on 24/7 (4 6500 K spiral bulb things) and the water temp stays steady at about 74-78 F. My calcium levels are consistantly around 380 ppm nitrates are usually around 25-30ppm HMMMMMMMmm The corals (all softies) are growing well, fish look great... just no culurpra!

Couldn't say because I've never had either, but one guess is maybe the chaeto just out competed the caulerpa. Just a thought...I'm sure someone else will know:)

Well if thats the case, thats great. Neither one cost me anything, but I just wanted to make sure it wasnt one of those "KNOWN VIRUSES" in my tank that I didnt know about or something!:D

Thanks guys. I feel a little better about it.
