Expanding my sump

Thanks Finn! Great call, but 1 1/2 inch hose barbs in the Bahamas may be just about as bad as finding snow!(LOL) I was thinking on maybe supporting the whole pvc "thingy" from underneath with some sort of brace that would be strong enough for you to even rest your arm on. Something made out of plastic that contours the shape of the pipe on both sides of the union. Should work:)

I use glue in spa flex pvc.
If you slow the flow down, you can get by with one set of bulkheads, untill you can get another order in for bulkheads. Then add those on the front or above the other set, preferably the front, so they are on the same level. Though since the main thing you want is more area for poweroutage, it wont really be a big deal if one is over the other, unless the pump can suck out more water than it can supply.

OK man I went to a pvc flow chart, 750 gph 12 gpm more or less. That is right up at the very end of using 1" pipe and that is under pressure. I would tone your pump back untill you can get the second bulkhead set.

No problem...Thanks! What about leaving the pump in the chamber it is in now? Would that make it better? I could just toss in one of my small maxi jets in the last chamber just to circulate the water...

Well yeah that would be fine. I bet your gonna want to move that pump over later though. More room for your groovy fuge of doom.

LOL...Yeah the whole 2 inches of it:lol: I have one more idea which is more work to get it done, but may work better. I'll put microsoft paint to work again(LOL) BRB:)

Went all about today and only found 1 bulkhead at a pool company (1 1/2 inch). They said they should have more in the warehouse, but they won't be able to check until Monday.

In any event, they said this one should seal from both sides (if I stuck to my first plan). It has 1 double gasket and 1 regular gasket. Here's a photo of it. Do you think this one would leak from both sides?

One more thing, if I go with the 2 bulkhead idea with the union like the drawing, I can't use a union. I measured it up with a 1 1/2 union I had out back with some elbows from a closed loop experiment gone bad using a mag24 and it won't fit in there and would hit my stands door. So I'd have to permanently join the elbows with pvc which means if ever I needed to take out the sump, I'd have to cut the pvc and re-join it afterwards with a couplin or replace the whole setup with new bulkheads etc.

Man I dont know. It might from looking at it. Like I said in p.m. I dont think the risk is worth it. If it were mine, I would put the 1" ones in and then add the next set of 1" later or wait and do it all at once.
Or then again I may be 100% wrong and it will seal perfectly.
Sorry man. I just dont know for sure.

That's cool man...I'm not sure and don't want to risk anything either. It seems as though it will seal, but Like Tom said, even with the silicone it might still leak and Tom deals with this sort of stuff all the time anyway and would know better than me. I'll hold off until Monday to see if they have one more because the bulkhead looks really heavy duty and should work great with the 2 bulkhead idea. If they don't have anymore, then I'll just have to order them from Premium aquatics Monday and get (2) 1 1/2 inch bulkheads from them. It would be a great excuse to order some more stuff again:)

Sorry Krish I don't anything about sumps yet..I'm not at that level. Just want to say nice gatorade bottle! Is that drinkable??? :)
