I don't feel like spending most of my day in the little boy's room. Just to change the subject a little bit since Krish and Gaby change subjects on my topic......I'm pretty sure this happens to everyone at some point in their lifetime...but don't you hate it when you drop a bomb in the toilet and the water splashes back up on your tush? LoL!!!

ROFLMAO...No man! That way you don't have to wipe!

Thanks Finn! Great call, but 1 1/2 inch hose barbs in the Bahamas may be just about as bad as finding snow!(LOL) I was thinking on maybe supporting the whole pvc "thingy" from underneath with some sort of brace that would be strong enough for you to even rest your arm on. Something made out of plastic that contours the shape of the pipe on both sides of the union. Should work:)

I noticed that you can't go with the pvc union, so if the hose barb idea is even a consideration with you, go to www.savko.com
They have all the hose barb fittings, bulkhead fittings and most other type of pvc pipe and fittings you would need.
I found the hose barb fittings under flexable pvc fittings.

Thanks Finn! I had totally forgotten about those people. I think it was Nikki who put me on to them a while back and they just slipped my mind. Nevertheles, the pool place I got that bulkhead I showed a picture of from, they have the hose barbs up to 2 inch. I have to check with them tomorrow to see if they have anymore bulkheads in the warehouse so I can know what I am doing:)

So I had a moment today and said screw it let me "try" something. It seems logical it should work fine and if it doesn't, then I guess I'll be taking down the tank to put a new sump in. Here's what I did...

I cut a hole it both the new piece and the sump in the exact same spot.

I slipped the sump under the stand and put weldon glue all around the perimeter of the new piece and all around the perimeter of the hole I cut out, and clamped the two pieces together for a few hours. I also put weldon glue around the inside of the holes I cut where they join/touch

Then once that was dry, I got some silicone and sealed inside the hole as well all the way around.

This is as far as I got so far. I'm just waiting for it to get tack free and then I will apply another bead of silicone inside the hole all the way around again to make sure it is water tight. I'm sure I could probably leave it like that, but since I have that 1.5 inch bulkhead, I'm going to insert it between the two pieces and lock them together using the gaskets and nut and seal that around the perimeter as well just to be safe. If that doesn't work then I'm screwed and I'll have to start all over with a whole new sump.:)

LOL...It'll work! It better! If not you guys may see me on the news dragging my tank, stand, canopy and all my equipment behind my car!(LOL) I just checked on it and I can't see it leaking. The new piece is bonded together tightly with the old sump with some weldon glue I used and now it is like one piece. I was thinking I may not use the gaskets for the bulkhead and just seal the plastic of the bulkhead right to the sump. Better yet, if I use some weldon to glue the bulkhead and nut to the sump and then use silicone around the outside perimeter of it...That should never leak man! I will seal the bulkhead in the morning and see how it goes after work!:)

Bring on the cut hip!(LOL) If that thing leaks I'll drink my gatorade bottle of skimmate! I honestly can't see it leaking...

ohh dood don't make me go there and put a hole :D

never say never dood , but i'm glad everything is going the way you want it

Yeah, it seems to be going that way. I'm going to think positively on this one because it seems logical it will work. :)

ohh dood don't make me go there and put a hole

LOL...I emptied my gatorade bottle:lol:

I extended my sump the same way. Unfortunately, because of the bracing on the stand, I could only have a sump of a certain length dimension. IMO, it wasn't long enough and I wanted more insurance when my pumps shut down that the water wouldn't end up on t he floor. Anyway, I placed the acrylic side by side like you had in your original picture, drilled a hole in both and placed two bulkheads to connect them. Now; I also had the benefit of having an empty sump and second compartment, but nothing a filter sock can't handle. If it leaks, you will be able to see a film thru the two pieces. Have you ever wet mounted a microscope slide? Well if so, it looks just like that.

Good luck

Welcome to RF if I haven't welcomed you already!:) Thanks man for the extra hope that it will work(LOL) I had to extend as well for the extra space during a power outtage. I had a fine line I could play with. I've had it come over on me a few times before I found the sweet spot. When I get home I'll put the water back in. I felt it this morning and the silicone it dry. I'll just let it cure some more today.:)

Put a few pieces of toilet paper in the water before you unleash your terror. Especially in the gas station.
