I struggle with my pH. It is 7.9 - 8.2. Yea cheap test for pH. I do the best I can. 8 or above is a great day for me!

about a week and a half ago I added a plain BTA (bubble tipped anemone) I am watching all reef inhabitants and the BTA. So far so good but I think the bioload on my tank is presenting as a small outbreak of cryptoblabla anyway ich. Sorry it is just the whole parasite thing grosses me out.

What is the best way to buffer my water without chemicals and without too much stress on the inhabitants?

Thanks in advance,
Debbie :)

am bumping my own thread...any ideas? My idea was keep the top of the water moving for gas exchange. This would be to address pH only.

7.9 to 8.2 is fine. More water is always good but your fine. If your seeing abnormal ph drops then I'd look at the bioload and do more water changes.

Don

O.K. Thanks
my pH is very stable...lower number is first thing in the morning. I think you are right about the the bioload. My tank is working hard as am i to accomidate the "new" (healthy been in the tank about 3 weeks) anemone.
BTA (very plain color).
Water changes...... the @#$%%^^& story of my life!!! :)

oh salt........I have always used my lfs NSW from Scripps in San Diego. Not changing now. Dose as little as possible meaning A and B 3 times a week.

Purple up maybe one time a month if that.

Seems to be good water. Jeff's Exotic Fish has good water.

yes pH of 7.9-8.2 is ok, if your really concerned about it i know seachem makes a product that raises pH and they say you can't overdose it either!

I agree as well on the range you are sitting Debbie. Once you don't have drastic changes, then you're good IMO:)

Thank you very much for the responses. It is a consistant change.

Geez gotta really learn how to use Reef Frontiers spell checker.
