Ehehe, if you saw my wiring you'd run to the phone and dial 911. 
Which is also why my tank features it's own smoke alarm. It's not that it's unsafe really, it's just not organized at all like it used to be.
Seeing all of your plumbing jobs makes me hate the local Lowes that much more. Ball valves..with unions! I could've really used one of those. $%!# !

Your local plumbing supply regardless of where should have Half & true union ball valves of almost any size needed. Cheap also for the easy of removal and the pain of not having one or two in your plumbing system, I also have two unions right at the bottom of the tank so I can remove the entire set-up from the tank rather quickly.
