Hi guys one of our own has been attacked by loodynium. Aquanauts tank is having an out break and she needs a place to rehome the fish for the 8 week fallow period. I am going to talk to her today, but am trying to make arrangements. The big issue right now is her Sohal tang and Purple tang. I have a hospital large enough for one but not for both so we need someone elses help too. If you have the capability to hospitalize some fish ASAP please post here or PM me. I need to go set up my tank for her. Also any suggestions on how to treat the anthias since they are too sensitive for copper?

Thanks,

Seth

Thanks Adam. I will go back through Lees sticky you linked. I just finished setting up tank number 1 and am just waiting for her to convince her fish that the fish trap is really a good idea to swim into.

I cannot thank every one enough for the support, trust and concern shown. I'm soo lucky to have so many shoulders to cry on...sniff. I have caught my Melanarius and now shares Cupramine with the Blueline Angel and PB Tang in my 29BC QT. Sohol and Foxface are playing tango in the sump that shares the medication for Herbtania/MicrobLift ~ so far reef safe, no ill effects known. Nitrates are bumping with not running the skimmer and refugium. Still angeling for the Purple Tang, Anthias, File fish and Manderine.

Many thanks to all
Deborah

Anytime Deb. I have no intended use for the rubbermaid right now, feel free to use it as long as you need. should at least help with the big fish being a bit more comfy.

What should I do about the Manderine goby only eats non prepared stuff. He is captured and placed into my off-line/non medicating refugium.

Male Anthias caught. Going into crowded Biocube w/cupramine.

You can buy pods at barrier and dose them into the tank....You know the QT tank is 3 times the size of that packed biocube right? You can always just come grab that 100G rubbermaid too and use it at your place.

Sounds like you've got the QT tanks in place that you needed. If you ever need some help with extra tank space, I have an empty 40B and a 20L that always has make up water in it for the time being (soon to be sump/fuge for 65 project).

Cheers,
Alex

I'm still waiting an OK to get off work to make it to you place in evening this week with the fishes ~unless you are available AM before my PM work. Almost all caught, PB Tang and 3 Anthias are still challanging, but can go into my 29Bio and a 40B borrowed from Nata that I'm arranging to pick-up. So, the remaining fishes can come to you for safe-keeping in Cupramine tx, and allow my system to reach a fallow state.

What a nightmare. I'll never, never, break my golden rule again!

I'll be available in teh AM starting Friday. I was told to take a week off work again....apparently my services and charming personality are not required to brighten the day of those around me.

I would follow seth's advice, just dose some tigger pods in the mandarin's tank from time to time and you'll be fine. Which golden rule is it that you broke?

Ok, I was drooling over a Blue Line Angel FS that an RF member whom had taken down a large reef system where only sand and a few fish remained. Claimed to have properly QT'd prior animals for the reef and having no new animals for well over a year. In a weak moment in addition to believing proper QT was actually completed, and reviewing remaining fat healthy clean fish stock and factoring how could they be carriers of "Oodinium", I skipped the all important re-QTing and just acclimated the angel directly into my reef and....48hrs later...signs of an outbreak was evident. It was 12hrs before I could trap and remove it to my occupied QT w/PB tang stewing in Cupramine. So now I must endure the wrath of my family and friends about how stupid I was for not QTing this fish and risking my other old stock as well. I pray that I can get beyond this hurdle w/o losing anything.

Not stupid just bad luck. I have skipped qt soooo many times in this hobby and I've only gotten diseases 4 times in 7 different tanks. I highly doubt that anyone in this hobby has truly never skipped QT before.

Hey, finally caught the Purple tang. Question, how best to transport the fishes on a +1hour ride Renton-Graham. Will gal Ziplock bags have enought air/water per fish? Or I suppose what is a safe water volume for 5g buckets with more than 1 fish? Do I need to buy Methaline Blue or is it a no-no in water with Cupramine. Or Fresh uncontaminated salt mix for all? Yikes! I'll call you tonight Seth to coordinate Friday AM fish drop.

Deb

A 5 gallon bucket. It is less than an hour to get to my place at least it was when I drove to your place it was. I would just run straight saltwater.
