I have had this clam for a little while and I bought it thinkin that it was a T. Derassa. However after more research I found that the Derassa's have a smooth shell. This does not it has noticable ribs and gives gives off a pattern almost that of the Squamosa.

Yeah I guess I should have cleaned the glass a little before snatching a photo of this little guy. However he seemed so happy to pose.

Looking at the right side of the shell, I'd guess definitely not maxima. Looks much too smooth. Given how wide open the shell is, and how smooth it is, it looks like a derasa. But I've never seen a derasa with those colors and markings on the mantle.

In conclusion: I don't know.

Yeah I meant the right side of the shell looks like it has ridges and yeah I've never seen that color on a Derasa neither.

Maybe if I get a shot of the shell only. Do you think that would help. I can also try and get a picture of the foot opening.

sorry I forgot the big side shot. I know that the picture is not that clear but bare with me.

After seeing more pics, I'd say almost definitely derasa now. Though it has very unusual colors for a derasa.

It's not a T. Squamosa. They have very scaly shells with these lil' "skoots" all over them in patterns. Your pic shows a fairly smooth, though not perfectly, looking shell. As I said before, The shape sure does look like a T. Derasa but as TWallace also said, it's an unusual color for a Derasa. I still think it's a T. Crocea.
