Well...I got great news! I just hung up the phone from talking to Curt and he is finally home! He will hopefully be able to get online tomorrow or the next day. He said he is a little exhausted from trying to walk, but still in very great sprits and just happy to be home. I'm sure he will appreciate all of the kind words everyone gave as well as their prayers

As Krish has stated, I'm home and I'm doing as well as possible. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR THE KINDS WORDS, PRAYERS, AND THOUGHTS!!! I feel real blessed to be alive and walking (albeit with a walker like an old man temporarily).
I wish the way it happened was the way Boomer suggested. Alas, the truth is much more boring. I was locked out of my house but the sliding glass door to the kitchen deck (2nd floor) was rarely locked. There are no stairs going up to that deck so I climbed up and checked the lock. No luck...it was locked. On the process of climbing back down, I unfortunately discovered some dry rot in the wood, which broke, and then I was in free-fall heading for my concrete patio on the basement floor.
Luckily, I only broke the T-11 and T-12 vertebrae. The other ones merely have something called compression fractures (basically small cracks that will heal themselves). I have to wear an orthotic device that makes me look like a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. (No, I'm not kidding. If I were to paint the back green and the front brown, that's what I would look like). My wrist and ankle should heal quickly hopefully (and especially my ribs which hurt like the dickens).
