If you live on the coast the chiller may work just fine without AC in the house. If you live inland where the temp gets to 120 degree F you will be sure to have a heat problem.

I had four pwr heads in that tank and never had a problem. I also ran the lights longer than you currently are. In fact, I have my 40 AGA with 4 pwr heads, a Rio 14HF, and an Emperor 400 in my garage with the T5s and it has never topped 79.5, even in the past few weeks where we had a lot of high temps. I agree with you, it has to be something else. Have you tried shutting off the UV and other equipment to see if that is the culprit?

That little UV isn't going to cause that tank to heat up and you need to keep it running for the bennifits of the UV. Sounds like you are on the rite track with the fan thing. You have to get the air around the tank moving as well as around the lites. I realize the PH's are on a timer but the time off is not that long and the motor stays warm for awhile even after it cycles off and then its back on again. If getting the air moving around the tank is working thenstick with that but I just know from experience that for each PH I turn on and mine are on a timer the temp starts to climb in the tank. You have pumps also in the sump.

and honestly i don't think 2 degrees makes much difference once it gets that hot.
