Reef Aquarium & Tank Building Forum

Help Support Reef Aquarium & Tank Building Forum:

Thanks Devon. I got the regular GFO and their ROX carbon - will see how it works. I plan on changing it out about every two weeks, and the GFO when it needs it.

Wow, that's a serious looking skimmer, and it even has it's own chair! I will have to peruse your very nice looking website so I can see some more pics of what your tank looks like. BTW, my corals are all starting to look much happier. :)

Great to hear the corals are happy! Let us know how BRS's GFO and ROX carbon works out. Oh and that skimmer, yep it works a lot better than my old prizm pro, lol. Unfortunately my stand is too short to allow for much of a skimmer... so Shelby allowed for one to sit outside the sump :). Not pretty but gets the job done! Oh and do check out my reef blog as I tend to post there most often. Take care!

So, I finally worked up the courage to take my huge hammer coral out of the tank and frag it into something more appropriately sized so it isn't squished up against the glass and looking so bad. I've been avoiding this for awhile since I've never cut a hammer apart, and really didn't want to wreck it too bad. I used nice big stainless bone cutters, and I'm happy to say that it went really well, and was pretty easy! I got two really nice pieces out of it, and took the rest to the aqua shop since I think everyone within a hundred miles has one. Here's what it looks like now . . .

I also was in the mood to snap a few new pictures, so here's what I got. I have to say everything is looking pretty good these days!

Thanks! I know, I need a kick now and then to get into cleaning mode too. Hey . . . I even cleaned and calibrated my pH monitor too! You know, I will probably take you up on that leather, but I think I'll wait until I get the new tank closer to up and running. I think it would be pretty in there against a black background.

hi Kim,

your reef looks really nice. i like what you did with the hammer, the smaller pieces look good in your tank. you sure have a knack for nice photos!!

Thanks Rob! It's good to hear from you. I hear you had an "encounter" on your recent trip . . . anything painful?

Tank looks great Kim! I have been in glass cleaning mode for 4 days & hope to get-r-done tonight/tomorrow....maybe some pics (no algae comments please, I know!)?

Thanks Kevin! Yeah, throw some pictures up, I'd like to see what you've got going on - good or bad :)

i will say that a Morey Eel has VERY sharp teeth. their canine tooth is fairly long too, based on the depth of the cut!!!:noidea: fingers bleed a lot. makes you a bit nervous swimming around leaving a blood trail in the water :) i probably won't do that again:tsk:

Holy Crap! Unless you're dictating to someone else, I can only assume you're still able to type. Any pics of the carnage?!

Hey Kim, are ya havin fun yet??????????????????????

If we get out of control................................ kick us off here, but we could maybe continue this on my thread, cuz it has already been trashed..........................................lol.

Ouch! Morays definitely have some rather large teeth - I know I wouldn't want to ever get bit by one. That being said, you have a fantastic story to tell from now on . . . think about it, how many people can say they've been bitten by a moray eel?

Oh yes, Charlie - lots of fun :) No issues here. Hey, we have lots of topics for discussion in our club . . . you just never know where it will go, how the food will turn out, or what someone will eat :) I just was excited to see Rob jump in and was wondering if he was ok.

I do have to admit, that I have not been to a bad foodfest/meeting yet.

It was and is good to see Rob chime in, I wish he would do it more often because he is knowledgeable and has something to donate as far as the club goes.
