OK Gang,
I finally heard from Dave. He's now gung ho (previously said he'd not be available for extra days) and wants to see as many tanks as possible and meet as many people as possible. He gave me two different flight options; one coming in Friday and leaving SUnday and the other coming in Saturday morning and leaving Sunday.
My vote would be come in Saturday and do a tour just like we are tomorrow and he can leave Sunday. It's my birthday weekend and SHilo's gig at the UW so I'm not sure if I'll be around at all. I dont mind getting a tour organized for the north enders... John Lehigh; check with jessieb like Alice wanted to, etc. I'm sure we can gather up some nice tanks and a couple stores.
What do you guys want to do? Let me know and I'll get his ticket and room settled. I was going to book the same room we used before that's right by the airport and has a shuttle.

Dave's airfare and hotel are booked.
FOr whomever is picking him up, his flight is American 7043 and arrives at 10:42am. So, first tour stop should be about noon. Probably only time for a nooon and one or two more; then a social at Dang's and our meeting. When there is a tour and a social at Dang's I suggest a meeting at 7pm like they used to be. Everyone was having such a good time at Dang's the extra time would have been nice.
His hotel is Days Inn just three blocks from Sea-Tac on International Blvd. It has a shuttle so when he's dropped off after the meeting, he can catch the shuttle in the morning to return home.

It's a shame that Eric is so far south, as his tank would be a great stop and he just voluteered. Then again, we could always see his tank in April if we plan to continue the mini tours.
One thing I was thinking about on these tours was that if we continue them before the meetings (and I like that) we won't really have any need for the real "tank tours" that we have had in the past. We'd need to find an alternate event

Well that's true but I dont think we are always going to plan these; it's just that the speakers have asked for it. At least that's what i"m thinking! We will run out of places to see anyway! Also I dont think I'll be wanting to invest one complete Saturday every month driving all over the county. Maybe once a quarter!
I really like to social time; people seem to really be enjoying that. There were way more people at Dang's that were on the tours. I should have done a tour count. I'd say only 10 tops.

I've got a line out to Barry of Kahuna Corals to sponsor this meeting the same as Indoor Reef ($200 worth of gift certs). We'll see how interested he is in really getting his name out.

Well, something happened on the business end for Barry and he doesn't feel comfortable promoting with the PSAS. I don't know anything further on this and he asked that I not share any more than necessary.
So, who else can we ask to sponsor the event....or do we want to ask someone at all??

Well I dont think we need one. We already have the skimmer donated for the meeting; so we will raffle that as it is.
Let's save our cosponsors for when we really need them when we dont have anything else... ???
Also, Indoor Reef talked to me again at the meeting and they are so gung ho for any type of meeting or anything we want to do. So we can put that on the shelf for future use...

I talked with Paul from Indoor Reef at the meeting. I think the club would do well to have 3 or 4 meetings a year at various shops. One on the other side of the water (Shark Reef or Ocean Reef Aquatics), on in the south end (Indoor Reef) and one in the East/North (Blue Sierra, Under the Sea, etc.). Based on the turnout at Shark Reef I think it's safe to say that people liked that format.
Mark, how close are you to the airport? Loaded question, but it's a looooong ride for either Colleen or myself to get to the airport.
On the tank tour....Donavan has an awesome fish only setup and was happy to open his house up to us on the tank tour. It's a BIG tank. Also, Doug Long (DLONG) had a great tank last time I saw it and he is in Mill Creek. Could try that avenue too.

Dang's raffle
Well heres the deal
Dang wants to donate 2 frags of the Steve Weast tort or whatever it's called and 2 other blue frags (4 frags total). He says we can do it however we want and all the money goes to the club. He will still donate 10% to the club. The Feb social was $25..
I want to do it as a raffle not a door prize because Dang really wants to see cash going to the club for it so we should honor that... :idea: Well that's my opinion at 2am.

What is the retail value on the skimmer and pump and then the seio?
I'd like to know the retail value so we can make a decent decision about raffle ticket prices (I'm still hung up on anything other than $5) If $5 is too much, then give it away. I dont really want a hassle later on that why are the tickets $5 now.... Everyone except one whiner happily supports the club with the $5 ticket price.

Well I'm feeling a bit of pressure here scheduling the tour. Salsaking has his big come see me comment in there even though I said North end; the Indoor Reef pipes up... I think Dave really will want to go to Erik's, it is the kind of unique / large system he'd like to see. WIth Indoor Reef offering a sale I'm inclined to say ok we can start there again....

I WONT be on the tour though; so we need someone in charge of keeping it moving and handing out maps. That work great last time and we had one person lost who was lost from Indoor Reef clear until he arrived late to Dang's. I couldn't quite figure that one out...
Gimme your feedback so I can make adjustments as necessary.
