Ok so I bought some of the phoslock to try in the tank and I want to put it into a media bag. The problem is I hate those media bags with the draw strings it seems to bunch the media up into a big tube in which water is hard to draw through. So what I want to do is take some 1/2" PVC and make a nice little rectangle then stretch pantyhose over and tie it in a knot. I believe the frame will keep it nice and thin allowing the water to flow through the media easier.

My question is this: Not being of the female species I don't have the need to wear pantyhose. Are they just nylon or do they contain some strange chemical composition that would hurt the creatures of my tank? Thanks for any help.

Just admit you wear pantyhose. However, I don't think your fishnets would work.

It should be fine. I wouldn't use anything the wife may have worn though, in case there is residual lotion or something she may have worn/used on feet or legs. Get a new pair and give it a good rinsing. I think the only caution would be the build up of detritus in the hosery.

Look that was one time in college and it was on a bet.

Would the buildup be any worse than in a regular media bag. I imagine I'll eventually just do a reactor and save myself the hassle.

For the detrital build-up, it really depends on the micron size of the media bag compared to that of the nylon.
