Reef Aquarium & Tank Building Forum

Help Support Reef Aquarium & Tank Building Forum:

yes I do have a couple of corals that are bluish but if I added more 400-450 spectrum they would go way more blue so the 14k is probably the next step for me.

yes Sanjay was here three days ago and I learned a lot obout reflectors and the difference of height. I think 9" is good to give enough spread and close enought to give good power. Wish I had better reflectors though. Spiders suck. I do get good enough grwoth on the bottom but The xm 10k's are pretty powerful even on my standard pfo ballast. I also liked the 14k because they can have identical spikes as the 20k but additional spikes near 600-650 which give it a more white look overal. post pics of your 14k. By the way Sanjay dropped his ushio's and now runs evc10k on his tank. These are almost as good as the xm's but should be more reliable. only time will tell. $49.99

That light blue is great Brad. Take a look at the pic linked below. The right side of the photo is my Blue Gomezi under 400w 20K DE's. It used to be a nice light blue but had turned into more of a deep blue to purple.

I sorta miss the lighter tone but these colors are nice to look at too..

BTW: I tried a 14K 250W hamilton over the right side of my tank for a day. It was much more blue than I expected... I may try to let it burn in longer but I have since put a 10K XM back over that side.

yes mojo has a couple of these and they are bluer than mine but I love yours. Turn it into a LE and say it is the bluest coral in the world and then start a waiting list and sell it for $100 per frag. You can put me in at march of 2008.

LOL Oh yea! It's a "Seattle Blue Dream" acropora which is VERY rare ;)

btw: your thread on things you hate to admit is friggn hilarious

Ok the month is almost over so here are some bad top down pics.

Cool Brad, But after your MOTM is over will you still be a sock puppet? Digging your sps, your doing a great job man. Steve

Even though I’m probably on your sh*# list bradreef, congrat’s on being nominated MOTM. I’ve seen your name all over the forum, and it’s great to see people like you who are willing to take the time to help other enthusiasts out. I’ve been in this hobby for roughly 19 years and the last 14 of those years have been spent learning the hard way as to how to keep a reef aquarium. Yet I’m still a little reluctant to answer people’s questions for fear of providing them with the wrong information. Like you have been doing, I’ll try to help out where I can based on my own experiences, although time is a rare commodity in my house with a wife and two kids. Keep it up with sharing what you know!

BTW.... Your pictures aren’t that bad. At least you have a camera to show off what you got. My four year old son broke mine to the point of it being nothing but junk.
And those blue Acro’s of yours are awesome looking no matter what!

Yeah! Yeah! More pictures!

Thanks no body is on my S^*t list. Thanks for the compliments. Giving advice for anything is tricky. I have been doing this for only 2-3 years but I have spent hours and hours researching and continually do. I learn from people like mike who not only tell you things but explain why and can back it up with research.
