Yea that is some nice wood work, I'll have to make mine without the nice panels & drawer, unless you would want to make a trip to Louisiana & help me LOL! If I can I may find some pre-made doors maybe at one of the local home centers, that would help out big time. We'll see!

The Style and Rail Panels are really not that hard to make. It's setting up your router and table that needs a lot of patience. I learned how to set up the router by reading a few magizines and books that had article about Style and Rail panels in them. Took me 3 hours and about 3 hundred pieces of scrap wood to get it to look and work right, the first time I did it. But, once you understand the layout it is a matter of care.

It still takes a while for Dad or I to set up the router. But, A LOT less scrap wood gets beat up now.

If you want to take the plunge, may be some of the more handy people on this site can help walk you through it.

Bigt, DonW, Myself and many others, that I have gotten Ideas from for design of various things, could help with this. Start a help thread here. We can probably walk you through it. From Tools to cutting tips. Everyone deserves the pride and feeling you get from building something you want.

Well I've watched Norm do it but he makes it look easy, are your panels free floating? I might give it a try, we'll see how the frame work goes first, been a long time since I've done wood work, even though I just purchased a new Bosh router that I need to justify to the wife!

Haha, I just leave my New <cough> ummm...errrr...tools that I already own, yea already own at my Dads shop :D

Yes it is free floating.

lucky you :) .
If i had a house and the tools, trust me i'd try making it because i have always wanted to make something with wood :) .... but i guess i'm gonna have to wait a few years for that.

Gabby,

I wish I had a house too. Unfortunately I have to head to my Dads to do any work. So I don't get to do to much woodwork in my own spare time.

wwouu dood, for the few things you do and the time, you do an awesome job .
I'm always gonna drool about your stand :).

Nice Ron, very nice. Hey can you post how you made this tank, is it all glass, the back looks like black acrylic? How thick is the glass & what are the dimensions, did you get it pre-cut or had a glass shop do all the cutting for you? What type of sealant did you use, it looks black also, which is cool.
ok ok enough questions, again it looks really nice, good work. I'll probably build a sump soon, might go glass.

Ron that looks amazing! I've always loved the cube looking tanks since I saw Todd's for the first time. Really great job man! You are really great with your hands! Best of luck now setting it all up and getting it all together:)

Looks awesome Ron. Thats going to be a first class tank you built :) I really like the euro brace too. Did you build the overflow box yourself?
Scooterman, I just replaced my front pane with starphire and got that black edge look also. Its the side panes being standard glass that makes it look so dark. on the side of the starphire its clear with no dark tint.

Man that looks great! I am impressed with how that came together like that. Did you buy diamond glass hole saws or drill with a dremel? I priced out some glass the other day to build a small tank for upstairs and couldn't believe the prices. I guess I will stick with plastic.

The Tank:

All Glass 1/2", 3 sides Starfire, Back (Painted) and bottom regular glass.
Overflow, 1/8th" thick greylite glass. (smoked glass)
Black Silicone

36"x24"x26"
3" Eurobrace 3 sides (not needed, but I love the look)
4 holes drilled in the bottom. On the back, 1 dorso, 1 return. On the front 2 holes closed loop.

Back glass 3 holes drilled, 1 intake, 2 closed loop return. All holes drilled with diamond hole saw.

Bottom black Starboard (I'll get pics soon, finishing putting it in tonight)

I had all glass pre-cut, All edges are polished, the front corners are beveled on a 45 degree angle.

I've decided not to build a sump, to expensive, I'll buy a generic pre built tank. I'll buy the baffles and add them myself.

Hope this helps :) Thank you everyone for the great compliments!

Yep the thread counts are high, guess you know lots of people are looking at what you did & hopefully learning,...nice work!

Yeah, but I think it is kind of mean in a way to visit someones thread and not post a comment or something. Take birthday threads for example...If the title says, "Happy Birthday Scooter" It's obvious what the thread is all about so IMO, why read the thread if you aren't going to post in a situation like that? I know how upsetting something like that can be when you have hundreds of views and only a few replies...I guess some people are just different or think differently. Nevertheless, it's not going to stop me from posting! I'll make up for those who don't post:p
