That looks very good, I like it better than your 38gal stand. I wish I had your carpentry skills.

LOL...Thanks. :) I actually never took any carpentry classes and just thought up the design when I had the wood infront of me  (LOL)

man, make me one of those and ship it to me.... i could put my chiller down below.

LOL...The total cost of the stand so far was:

(1) Sheet of 3/4 Virola = $38
(1) Wood stain kit (Qt size clear and stain, 3 sheets of sandpaper, two sponge brushes, cloth) = $39.95

...And all left to buy is whatever hinge I decide to go with for the door.

The total time I've spent on the stand so far is 1.5 hours to build it and 45 minutes to apply the first coat and possibly the only coat of stain and probably about the same (45 mins) to apply the clear. Not bad for what you want:)

oh and that is strong enough to hold a tank? i thought that was like veneer or something.

LOL! Nope...Not vaneer. It's plywood and 3/4 thick. The stand is also braced across the back up top and I used no lie, the entire sheet of wood and didn't waste any. All that was left was a few 3 inch strips and a shelf I saved incase I wanted to use one. Most of the stand is doubled up as well (2 ply) so the stand is basically 1.5 inches thick. :) .

Looks like nice Krish. I agree I like this better than cube stand. Don't get me wrong, I liked the stand just not a big fan of formica. That simulated wood grain just doesn't work for me. This has a much nicer look to it. :)

Nice stand. Maybe I should swap my tank for a 24 gallon nano. Think it would hold my tangs?

LOL...If it were up to me and didn't have a wife in the equation, I would have started out with a 125gal and probably stopped there. It's not a money isssue (never is) just finding the happy medium for everyone

Krish, it's not everyone you are trying to make happy here, it is YOU that has to be happy with the tank. Not to be a real putz, sorry.

I guess you are not married Charlie. If the wife is happy Krish is happy. The my way or the highway attitude does not work in marriage.;) Except with me. My wife knows who's boss:p I hope she does not read this.:D

Thanks James...This is my first staining job for something for me personally. We bought patio furniature before that had to be stained, but for a fish tank of mine...This is a first. I rather the look as well to be honest. I'm putting a satin clear finish on it so it isn't shiney. Too shiney and it may end up looking like formica:p

Thanks Brian:) Not sure if it would hold your tangs unless they are still "fry" (LOL)

IMO, I think some things are better left un-said. I have no idea how to respond to this other than I think it is really getting old to me now Charlie. But for the record (one last time) Yes... I love to mess with things and I love to perfect things, but I don't enjoy having to change out a tank that I've finally gotten comfortable and happy with how it is setup. I was bummed when I had to move the 75gal for the baby because it was an amazing setup that I put so much into, but I made the best out of it. I am bummed that I have to get rid of this cube because of the fact that it would require too much time for me (which I don't have) to get it looking right and operating right in the house where I can be happy with it, but most importantly my wife can be happy and not drive up my electricity bill $300+ where it may be worth it to me, but not to my wife. I'm not going to come one here and whine everytime I have to change something because I know no-one wants to hear it and so I think positively and say, the next one will be better. Brian had it right when he said this...

I much rather stained wood, just can't beat the looks & quality of beautiful wood! Now get your rear here & help me finish mine:)

That's right "Momma not happy, No ones happy"...

LOL! I missed that James...Sorry:p My wife loves looking at the tank, don't get me wrong, but she hates the chiller next to the TV and the extra expense in electricity as a result of all the equipment and chiller running so much. Just like I see nothing wrong with paying $1,000 for a light fixture because it is worth it to me, but for my wife it isn't. She see's nothing wrong spending $6,000 she did on the back patio to fix it up when we never go out there nor does anyone else, but it's worth it to her. Me...I could care less. If she want's to tile the ceiling in our place for whatever reason, I could care less...That's just me, but not everyone is the same so I just keep the peace and make a few compromises:)

Anyways...Enough talk about wife's and swapping tanks! I'll post pics when I add the clear and get the stand it my favorite location:)

10-4.. My wifes the same way. That's just the difference between Men and Women.

Looking forward to Pics once it's all setup. I'm sure it will be great just like all your other/old tanks. :)
