Got my I.A.P. 36"x36"x24" "cube" a little bit ago from Indoor Reef. After some problems with the hex tank, and knowing good and well that my lil lion would soon become a monster requiring a lot more space than the 55 could ever provide...and a whole lot of begging of the wife  I went ahead and took the plunge and got the cube I always wanted. Besides we have a house now and plenty of room for it. Here is a shot of the tank just sitting there waiting to get underway...I hate seeing it there dry :(
The tank is made of 1/2" acrylic all around, has a center overflow, euro top, rounded corners and a black back. Special thanks to Indoor Reef and I.A.P. for the special order ;)

Since this is the showcase forum I will try to document every step of the way. Here are a few shots showing the future set-up spot and a shot of the reinforcement for the floor. I installed tile and painted the entryway as part of the prepwork for the cube.

Trevor (MarineDreamer) and I did a little drill'n tonight :D Just the returns for the C.L.S. for now, need to go get the bulkheads for the returns tomorrow (I hope).

Wow! Awesome to see some holes in that thing. What a great sized cube tank!

Todd, did you know in that picture of you tiling the floor, there is a drill sticking out of your shoulder blade? LOL - it must be early :)

All the work you've put into the house and now the tank.....it's going to be great! Are you getting excited?

Wow, great deal man! But Nikki is right. Does it hurt when that happens? Bet you can't wait to get the water in?
If you start with cold water, that'll help the deal with your back. :D
Keep us goin on the updates!!!!!!

Thanks everyone for your comments! I will try to keep this thread current as I make progress. Things are going to be slowing down a bit though, school and money getting a bit short. I do hope to get it up in the air soon (within the next few weeks) and get it cycling.

Wow you guys are up late and up even earlier. I saw the drill in his back and thought this will be fun, but it has already been hit upon. Anyways, congrats on the house, the tank, and the OK from the wife for the tank. That tends to be the biggest obstacle for me. Good luck and I hope that shoulder works out for you. ;) LOL.

Got the returns put in for the CLS, I was originally planning to have the stand frame done today as well and start freshwater testing...not for a while now, too much on my plate with school and work. But at least I did get this accomplished today...step by step :)

I got a couple small things accomplished in the past two days. I put in the barb fittings between the bulkheads on the overflow (I will use spa-flex between them), and I got my return plumbing set up for the sump return, I didn't want to use the regular 'ol white PVC so I went with sch80 fittings and nipples, kind of gives it an industrial look.

Here's the return plumbing. That sch80 threaded stuff is a real PITA to work with, it's supposed to be vertually indestructable...ha, I ripped one of the nipples apart torking it down...so maybe they don't have to be that tight? :p

No that's a pic that Travis was kind enough to let me use.

Great looking tank! Love to see a current shot :) Is it a glass tank or acrylic? I plan on using about the same amout of LR so I can get some good grow out from my corals. Very nice job you have done there with your cube ;)

That cube looks cool man.... just curious, do those tiles part of the tank too? Just kidding bro =). Your tank will be up and running in no time.

Just a thought.....we should have tank of the month in this board. What ya think?
