Help Support Reef Aquarium & Tank Building Forum:

I was wondering if threads or atleast the original post like these, could be added to the equipment forums. In the review sections. I see alot more reviews here rather than in that forum. Under the corrisponding equipment. That was the first place I looked for info. But there were aot that lacked info, reviews and any info at all.

Just a thought I had. Might help people out more if they happen to go there first. and have less questions about them here. Posts like this are great! Helps alot of people. But if its in those forums it would be easier to find it/

As the proud owner of a new duel Beckett MRC-MR-7, I have to say that I could not be happier. Mine took about a week to 'break-in' (I'm a wet skimmer) but once it did, I've been very impressed with it. It's quite touchy though; a feeding of Mysis will instantly collapse the foam while the introduction of nori will make it go off like Mount Pinatubo. I consider this sensitivity a good thing. Not only does it keep me on my toes but this lets me know it's working at optimum levels when everything is running normally. But then, so do the results in the collection cup.

Sounds like my AquaC EV-120 skimmer 64Ivy! I don't have any fish yet or bio-load, but by just adding a single rock made the skimmer go crazy after about 1 1/2 hours. If I add salt mix to the water the foam in the chamber would drop off almost instantly and then recover after about 10-15 minutes. You have a really nice skimmer there. I looked at the MRC skimmers and almost bought the MRC-MR1 for my 90 gal, but I wanted to get my skimmer from Premium Aquatics because they have treated me really well in the past as I generally have terrible luck whenever ordering something to be shipped to the Bahamas. You must have a huge tank to be running that skimmer! What size is it?

Tank is 500g. Total water volume in the system is over 650g
Incase you didn't know, that isn't a tank...That's more like a body of water like an ocean or something! Ever swam in it? (LOL JK).

Swam, no. But to reach the bottom, I DO have to don a snorkel and face mask (true story). Wisely, I wait until the wife has left the house before doing this as she has access to far too many cameras.

just wanted to say that the reef devil skimmer out of the box is crap, but if you put an actual real pump on it(dolphin 800) and restrict the air flow down to 1/4" - 1/8" of an inch instead of 1/2" you will find that it can kick some butt.
it's etss's fault though, they should know better that to ship crappy pumps with their skimmers, and the whole "you never need to adjust the air intake" line is just baloney!! in it's out of the box configuration it is a p.o.s. but you can get them to skim great with a little modifiying.
