Hi Everyone,

We met some great people at MACNA 2006 including a wholesale company that supplies many ultra high-end products. We have been hesitant to bring many of these products in due to their cost. As a newer store its tough to put a $3000 protein skimmer on the shelf when you have no idea how long it will take to sell it. That said I thought I would post a short list of products and manufacturers whose products we can special order. This wholesaler doesn't have a minimum order but they need me to order more than just ones and twos. We are trying to round up enough orders to piggyback on our order so that we can bring some of these great products in. Anyone intersted in pricing please PM me.

1. Royal Exclusive Bubble King Skimmers- Entire Line
2. Red Dragon Pumps- Entire Line
3. KZ T-5 Lamps Including 50/50 and Fiji Purple Red/Blue
4. ZeoVit-Additives, Reactors, K Test Kit, and Reefers Best Salt. (We are more than happy with our Elos line of Natural Nutrient Control products but we realize that many use Zeo).
5. AquaPerfekt Aqua Science Halide Bulbs and T-5 Lights
6. AquaConnect 14K SE/DE Halide Bulbs
7. Fauna Marin Supplements and Foods (Not something we'll stock but can be special ordered)
8. Tropic Marin Salts and Additives

What do you know or have heard about the AquaPerfekt Aqua Science and AquaConnect Halide Bulbs?

I haven't had time yet to research the AquaPerfekt yet but the AquaConnect bulbs are really popular. Many of the reent RC TOTM use them. On a 400w PFO HQI they have 170 ppfd. Very high. They have a big spike in the blue range exactly like the 10k ReefLux but no spike in the yellow/green range. Sorry I can't go reference Sanjays spectral plots to give you exact numbers right now. (Running late for an install) You'll get a true 14k look with ppfd like a 10k. You'd probably benefit from running some ATI Pro Color or KZ Fiji Purple T-5's to bring out Purples and Reds. We are going to try them on our display within the next month since our Bali and Oregn torts are not responding well to the CoralVue 20k. Everything else likes the 20k, but not them.

I have an AC 250 watt 14K on one half of my tank and a Reeflux 10K on the other, both run on Coralvue e-ballasts. Figi Purple and ATI Blue+ for T-5 supplementation. Both sides of the tank are getting good growth, about the same I think. The greens and purples really pop on the AC side. I have an orange monticap on both sides and it looks better on the Reeflux side, a bit washed out on the AC side. However, I think my ballasts may have something to do with that. There is one coral that doesn't respond well to the AC and that is my pink stylo, which is looking kind of tan.

Anybody serious about skimming should definitely be considering a BK. That's if you can justify the cost. I know that both myself and Jobiwan are extremely happy with our skimmers (joe's BK300 Internal and my B400 Internal). I can't wait to mine is up and skimming again so I can share nog pictures. I know that Royal Exclusive is also developing a DC motor pump that can be adjusted from around a thousand gph on up to 10,000 gph. And if it's like their Red Dragon pumps I'll bet you can't even hear it even if your ears on it.

KZ lamps? more info on these? are these just the bulbs or fixtures? I havent heard of any fixtures but am going to google it for fun...

Those aquaconnect bulbs sound exciting... I heard these bulbs are exactly the same as the pheniox 14ks.

Just lamps. The Fiji Purples are supposed to really help pinks, purples, and greens really pop. The other bulb is a 50% 10k/50% Actinic.

I've read the same thing but I'm not sure if anyone really knows. The thing that makes me question them being the same lamp is there are no single ended pheonix bulbs yet there are in the aquaconnect. When comparing the two different double ended lamps they have different spectral plots. They are close but they don't appear to be close enough to call them the same. Batch differences or testing error margins could influence this though. It is exciting though to have the option for a single ended higher ppfd bulb with a blue look.

get a pallet price Cy. Plenty of people would like to buy this salt but availability is a problem. IIRC Eric tried but the price was too high. Maybe we need to develop distribution, but I did notice you had TMPCC in your store...

I got a shipping price for half a pallet...ouch. I need to combine it with the bucket price when I'm back at the store thursday. I'll reply then...sorry for the delay.

no sweat...the shipping price for half a pallet may be the same as the full pallet, depending on the carrier. Some charge by the pallet, some by the weight.

Yeah it may be better, shipping-wise, to get a full pallet. The only problem is I'm not getting much of a positive reaction to this idea (outside of this thread) and I can't sit on 36 buckets of expensive salt. If we do a half pallet purchase I can sell the 200 gallon mix buckets of Tropic Marin Pro-Reef Salt for $89.99 to PSAS Memebers and our regular price will be $99.99. I searched the net and at $89.99 we came in very competitive after shipping costs for e-tailers were figured in. If a bunch of customers grouped together and prepaid for 18-24 buckets I could go $83.99

Too much dude. I usually buy 12 - 200g myself but I can get it landed for a lot less. This is an on-going issue and I think it's related to their distribution network, or lack thereof. We have got to get to them regarding storing and distributing in the Northwest. If you don't do it, I will. This is a top-line salt and I know there is demand for it, but just no availability.

Its definately a distribution issue. The company I would buy it from is just across our northern border though. Don't know how it could get much better than that. I asked them about pickup since I'm right by them every-other-weekend and they don't seem interested. Based on my current cost I can't do better. I'll keep working the supplier to see if they will let us pick it up. It would knock about $13 off each bucket. PM me what you get 12 landed for so I know what I'm shooting for.

I would buy some of the reefers best salt if you sold it at the store. I hear it is good stuff. (Expensive..., but good and I like throwing money at my aquarium anyway...)

Actually,

ZeovitUsa has just changed hands and is now being managed by Eric Camaano (of Fragfarmer.com). They have ordered the RBS salt and will be distributing it out of California. From my observation, Eric is welcoming new retail LFS stores to be Zeovit carriers--I've just noticed that there's several new stores that will start carrying RBS salt and/or Zeovit.

It would be great if there were one in Wa State--I would buy RBS salt there--but if there isn't, at least I know I can get a better shipping rate out of California than from the Canadian distributor. :)

As you said it's good stuff--both Seachem Reef and Tropic Marin are low in Mg and K+ and need to be supplemented if you want to match NSW parameters.
