A point of clarification on question # 3 - we wrote the question from information found in Julian Sprungs Corals: A quick reference guide, pp. 10, published in 1999 - since then, as returnofsid pointed out, according to these sources Octocorallia, Alcyonacea, Sea fans, gorgonians, and What Are Gorgonians, Types of Gorgonians Including Sea Fans and Sea Whips with Gorgonian Photos, they have been re-classified as Alcyonacea, which includes Soft corals like Sarcophyton, Dendronephithya, and Xenia.

Points were awarded for both answers in an effort of fairness!!
