October meeting

Reef Aquarium & Tank Building Forum

Help Support Reef Aquarium & Tank Building Forum:

We need to figure out away to quickly get the new members e-mails added to the e-vite. Also I know Colleen used to add anybody that expressed interest in joining in the main forum, she would just ask them to PM their address. That is how I joined.

Kris,
I would like to get away from evite model and use email format along with posting on website and RF. The reason for it is as follows:

Out of 440+ emails that we've on evite list. However, less than 30 people have viewed it (Evite provides this data). So, it means that people are not getting the evite or we have invalid email addresses (may be correct in the past but not valid now). Evite, unfortunately, also does not provide any data which tells us the email accounts do not exist so there's no way of tracking them.

In addition, the single list provides us the option of contacting everyone for meetings, sponsors sales.

I know there has been question in the past about privacy issues. However, this can be managed by putting people in the BCC list so that no one knows who got the email.

What do you folks think?

However we decide(d), e-mail or evite, my point is we need to get the new people on the list quickly.

People will respond later in the week usually. Sometimes email will not go through because of spam blockers. This is very common.

Randy would like one night stay at a Motel close to Bellevue community college.
I recommended The Comfort Inn off I90 close to 148th. He said that would be awesome. He would like to spend the night on Friday. He will give presentation Saturday and head towards Portland that night.

Ed,
there's no more comfort inn in that area anymore. I got him Days Inn which is 1 mile away for BCC (2 minutes drive).

I have forwarded you the hotel confirmation. Please forward it to Randy.

So I was going to post about the door prize in the main forum, but felt we should establish the guidelines first. I think the door prize tickets should only be given to card carrying members, show up to the meeting, show your card, get a ticket. Drawing at end of presentation, must be present to win.

What do you think?

I think the guidelines sound good.

Ed posted in the October Meeting Forum earlier this morning about the raffle and what's going to be in it.

We also need to decide on the price of the raffle tickets in advance so that we're not scrambling for a decision at the meeting.

Sounds good to me. :)

What about just establishing a price for raffles throughout the year at the $2 each or 3 for $5. Then for the June picnic do like the last one with special big ticket items at $5 each with 5 for $20. Then we do not need to re-think this each time we have stuff to raffle.

The meeting is only a few days away!

We need to send out an Evite reminder... Who has the information to do that?

Things we need to have ready to go:

Drinks
Membership applications, cards and pens
Raffle tickets and the coffee cans
What else?

Are there any objections to Ed's suggestion of the raffle ticket prices?

Vicki
