Orange m. Cap

I have had an Orange M. Cap since Jan 20th 2004 and for some reason it has turned into a purple color with an Orange rim... Has anyone seen this happen before.. It changed color about 2 weeks or so after putting it in the tank.. Its under 2x250w MH and 2x55w Actinics about halfway up in the tank.. The purple seems to be getting darker and the coral is puttin on about 1" per month..

Well, James thats one for the books. I've seen other acropora species change colors before and some other plating montipora but I've never seen an orange change to another color. Thats totally weird, but so cool.....

What lighting was it under before you got this frag??

i believe iwasakis If i am not mistaken.. I think they were 400w but I could be wrong.. I am pretty sure they were Iwasakis though..

Quite unusual. I've never seen that type of color change either.

Yeah at first it was just a slight color change and it started getting more of a purple color.. I pulled the coral out of the water to look at it in actual white light and it was still a purple color... I am not complaining as its pretty awesome.. I was just a bit suprised at the color change... Kevin, Maybe sometime You can come down here and we can trade for one of your awesome Frags LOL..

Charles kept that monti under 2 250w Iwasakis.

I can't wait for a frag, I really want to see what it does in my tank.
