Kevin, here are a couple of pics that we discussed on the phone this afternoon. As we talked thru it, I am pretty sure it ended up being that crab I talked about. I should have tossed him, but he is now in the refugium, hopefully chewing on his own toenails. Take a look at the pics and let me know what you think, OK :).

From the first picture if it was caused by lighting or water chemistry I would expect the Acropora behind it to be affected as well. Predation is my guess.

Cheers,
Kevin

unless hes a crab in hiding and reaching out and grabbing wat he can eat with his claw... looks like ur crab likes setosa.

wierd he was eating the tips tho??? I'd think a crab would eat from the base

I don't know, I found him just plopped right on one of the tips munching away, I sure wish I had caught him a ton earlier :):).

Ummmmmmmmmmmmm, those look alot like stylos to me, in fact, I know they are stylos.

Charlie, while you're probably correct in suspecting your crab, something else popped into my head (I know, what are the chances right?).

Is this coral directly in line with any of your MH bulbs? Check the bulbs for any possible cracks. For some reason, the first photo made me think of the UV burn that a coral would get if a MH bulb cracked, releasing UV.

Michael, I checked everything when I noticed something was going on. And as Kevin said, the stylo would not be the only one affected, and they are on opposite ends of the tank. Coincidence?????? I don't think so, Neither stylo has gotten worse since I deposited the crab in the refugium.
