The slime is not really on anything else.. A few spots here and there on the rocks but other than that Its not really anywhere else... I tried to dip 2 of the Affected corals and that didnt help at all... I am thinking (crossing my fingers) as a First Cheaper method that since I did add the rock a bit early that there was more Dieoff in the rock and Created a Nutrient issue... Obviously that was apparent when I had the Hair Algae... I think pulling quite a bit of this Rock out and rinsing it in Fresh saltwater and then adding it back to the tank will help it some... I am thinking I might pull the sand out of that side as well and Rinse it very well as well... If this is causing the Issue doing that Alone would remove 1/2 the nutrients... I have a Hard head in thinking that the salt might be the issue as I have been using the salt for over a year now and for the past 6-8 months its all from the same batch (large order) and all the bags are stamped with the same batch #... I would have thought It would have come sooner if It was the Salt... I am really just thinking that It might have been my mandarin dying on me adding to the waste that seems to have built up on the rocks..

Ok well I pulled about half my rock out and Rinsed it really well.. Talk about nasty... Behind the rocks was insane.. I could not believe there was soo much buildup back there... Anyways about 150lbs has been extremely rinsed well and placed back into the tank... Will wait til things kinda clear up some in the tank before I continue with this... I hope that this solves the issue... My new clean water that I was using to rinse the Rock is a muddy brown... That cant help the water...

Well here is the Next day... I finished pulling the rock and rinsing it from the entire LEft hand side of the tank.. The Tank is in complete shambles right now but atleast its clean... I pulled some of the Nastiest crud out of that side of the tank... It was unbelievable... I figured I will let things Settle down for the day since that was probably some stressful stuff for the inhabitants...

I can say that it was not normal for stuff to be that bad... The rock must have shed quite a bit for stuff like that to be behind the tank and under the rocks... however when I woke up this morning the algae was not near as bad on the corals... It was still there somewhat but not that bad at all... Tomorrow I will probably clean the center portion as well as what I can with the right hand side of the tank.. I do not want to disturb my mountain on that side as I like the looks of it...

Hopefully all that crud was what was causing my issues... (crossing my fingers)

Final Update... After Tearing down a good 2/3rds of the tank and rinsing most of the rock and putting it back togehter this is the first day that I have not blown the algae off the corals... The corals still look hurt but there is no or very very little agae on them...

My guesses on Why is that I have an Extreme Hair algae issue that I beat... The waste from all that stuff died off and ended up behind and under the Rocks... Now that all thats gone the Nutrients and built up waste is gone... My Orp has climbed up quite a bit higher and is sitting about 400 now... I have Water for 1 last water change for a while When I am going to scrub out the sump of all the detris that Has probably gathered down there since I started cleaning...

Now I just have to get rid of my SPS munching long spine Urchins... Found 1 coral a few months ago with a bite taken out of it... Figured it was the pincushions that I hate... Got rid of those... Then This morning checking out the tank there is another Huge bit taken out of another one of my SPS where I personally saw the Urchins last night while watching TV.. Good By to them LOL

about growing macro algae in a fuge... I bought a freshwater 24 inch aqualight and cheato doubled in a couple days. also other strains of caulerpa really started to take off growing way to fast. I see what ed was saying about adding a second fuge due to the fact of the growth rate of the (spaghetti??)caulerpa and cheato was choking my bubble and feather caulerpa. Now I cut down on my light and dont have to trim as much. my fuge is full of critters(bugs) I have quite a few a baby brittle stars that I'm raising in there too. as for my substrate in my fuge I have mineral mud made by carib sea.

as far as chemi clean it does wipe out alot of bateria good and bad!!! cause a hell of alot of over skimming recommend turning skimmer off. (creates a mess I found out) as for effectiveness well lets just say after 2 treatments I still have a hell of alot of hair algae and cyno still in my fowlr.

IMO put a power head toward the affected coral so the slime cannot rest upon it. use a turkey baster and suck the crap out. and get your fuge up and running with macro algae's. In that thread somewhere on here lol bob fenner was talking about macro algaes out competing micro algae's for food source.

James - I had a problem with Pukani rock, although my algae issues were different than yours. I agree on the significant amount of die-off from this rock. Not sure if you've seen this thread? Live Rock Saturation?

make sure you get your flow adjusted james so it doesnt build up back thier again.
