RIP Kole

Looks like my Tang lost his bout with Ich. I put him into QT for about a month and he wasn't showing any signs of stress or Ich, so I put him back into the display. He suddenly lost his appetite and has disappeared for the last four days and I think some of his bones showed up today. This is my first fish death due to illness in nine months of this hobby RIP good buddy.

It was always nice to come home and see him picking at the rocks and glass. He would even eat out of my hand (the bristle teeth feel cool ) and was a very cool and calm fish. Looks like I'm going to be shopping around for a Copperband Butterfly to replace him. My wife is really sad that he didn't turn up.

His name was Kole, lol. Not very original (obviously), but I've never really been one to name my fishes. Tomorrow is going to be a busy day as I tear down the aquascape and rebuild. I've really wanted to re-aquascape the tank with some cool PVC structures and such, plus his body hasn't been found yet and I don't want him to still be in the tank. I'll post pics of tomorrows adventure when I'm done. Thanks for the kind words everyone.

If you have only been in this hobby nine months and your tank is only nine mos. old I would not advice you to get a copperband. They need really good tank conditions and can be quite hard to get to eat and require alot of feeding to keep healthy unless you have a whole lot of bugs in your reef for it to eat.

So sorry about Kole. Just out of curiosity.....you mentioned you haven't seen it for 4 days. Did you check your nitrate?

I was wondering what he meant by "good" as well. I know this tank has only been up and running for nine months, but the rock came from an established system. I can't really imagine my system not being "good"; my SPS is thriving, anemone has tripled in size, pods are o'plenty, and everything else is thriving in the tank. And I do need to test the water, which I haven't done yet. I'm doing a large re-aquascaping project today along with a water change, I'll test the water before I do that.
