I was fortunate enough to receive a few tips from Rick/Blazer88 on how to fix white balance in my camera, etc. So my pics are coming out half-way decent now (Thankyou, Rick! :). Here are a few macro pics from my reef:

Thanks, guys. :)

Morgan, some day I do want a schnazzola enchino like you described, but I'm too cheap to pop for the $175 for 1/2" price tag I see around here.

Never heard of this one before....what does it look like?

thanks very much! :D

Brad/Rob, my salinity is at about 1.0235 at the moment, bringing it up to 1.025 sg. In any case, the bartletts never lost any of their beautiful color when they came into my reef. The dominant "super male" is of course more colorful than the other two.

Tike666: the "schnazzola enchino" is known by many names....hybrid watermelon, rastafarian enchino, etc. etc. ;) Bright green rims, yellow or green eyes, and base color of pink, red, purple, or some combo thereof.

Nice camera work & corals, you have a great collection!
Also love the Anthia's, they are so cool!

Gee thanks, guys! :D That means a lot to me.

As for my camera and technique, it's pretty much just what Rick/Blazer88 taught me when he came over:

always shoot perpendicular to the side of the tank, no angles
turn off all the flow
set the camera's white balance (I will post those details from my notes of the Rick session...)
use a tripod if possible
takes lots of shots

More details from the Rick-notes later. THe camera is a Nikon D80 w/105mm Nikor macro lens.

Great camera. I have a Canon Rebel Xt and really want to get the 100mm 2.8 macro. Unfortunately, it's a little out of my price range right now. I'm looking into the Macro filters as well. I'd also suggest custom setting your white balance somewhat often. As your lights degrade, which they do over time, your white balance will change.
