Is it possible to remove the tank plumbing guards { black baffles in tank } and surround with actual live rock to give more space and a direct flow behind my rock wall . I know i will need to sock the intakes to protect fish but can it be done without harming the environment or plumbing it self ! PS> thanks for any advice

I have the same doubt as i am a marine student , i couln't find the proper explanation for this , means real time example. Can you explain briefly?

Its not that it won't work, its that your entire tank will drain with a power outage.

I wish I could give you a more solid answer but the probability is your tank will definitely drain out. Agree with most of the replies here.

Oh yea, just one hiccup on the pump and it will flood, more ways than one.
