Well it was nice talking to those of you that I met today at the meeting. That was a great venu, Nice setup there Chris. Ok folks common! post those pics, you know that we all wanna see em!
Hi Gordo, the things on the strings are some sps frags, that one one the left is a purple acropora stag, the next one is a redish montipora cap, next is a green acropora stag, and the one on the right is a brown montipora digita. I have had them hanging for about a week and a half and have already noticed good growth on all frags.
Happy little slice of the ocean, fish and live rock, as well as a hosted seabay and a flame scallop, though it looks like I'll have to dig him out again.
I am curious what type of bulkhead you are using to that has the teeth cut in it. Is that just a fitting that you cut yourself for the surface skimming, or did you buy that? How well does that work, is it noisy?
My overflow is a 2" PVC 90 degree elbow and end cap. I "Dremeled" the teeth out of the end cap and then placed it over 2" PVC coming out of the elbow. I also drilled a small hole in the top of the end cap to allow more air into it. I've got an external Durso mod behind the tank that also helps silence it. I'm really happy with it. It works (i.e., skims the water surface) really well and is virtually silent. You're welcome to swing by sometime and check it out if you'd like...
That is a great design, I can see how that would work quite well, especially for skimming the surface. I might have to use that same design for my next tank.
I'd love to take you up on that offer to stop by sometime and admire your tank.
Great looking sps tank Paul! I especially like the staghorn growing off the back glass, that Is a nice touch, I have been planning on gluing a frag onto the back, I guess I should just go ahead and do it!
jlehigh, looks like you're off to a great start! It'll be fun to watch it progress!
Dang, I'm using 250w AB 10K bulbs driven off of IceCap ballasts. I've had great growth in the year since I put them on. I don't mean to hijack this thread, but now you've got me interested to see what a progression looks like since last year
