The pond foam works really well, but does not look very natural. When I used it for my rock wall I let it set up for a day or so. Then I to a dremel tool to it and roughed it up and got rid of the excess, This made it rough and produced many, many tiny holes. Then I got a two part epoxy marine glue,( from Marine West) painted the foam and sprinkled crushed coral on. Turned out great.

I was thinking of doing something similar, I will only be using it in small doses. So it won't be as obvious. Peppie you are a true genius, no matter what Todd says about you.

Senji, after rereading your light build I stand corrected. I have built a lot of systems and find that the little bit of light produced at the end of the cycle is miniscule. And with the controller doing the "on and off" it will be right where I want it.

Salmon season is coming up and we all know how he gets when the fish start running. I think the split bamboo pole would be the best bet to sooth the savage beast.

So just a quick update all three lighting modules are completed and will be mounted in hood. Here are just a few random pics.

I have another one of these tubs that I thought I could use as a refugium and just have the sump for all other filtration

Sorry the reactor is a bio pellet reactor built by Cadlights. It has an inverted conical shape so that the flow is improved and allows for better tumbling. Is tumbling a scientific word. I have not used it yet but it seems to be nice. I have read all the pros and cons of a bio pellet reactor, and feel that the benefits outweigh the risks. It holds 750 ml of media. The space saving design is nice. Not sure the strength of he pump yet but will give you guys my feelings on it when it comes on line.

Way to go Floyd, really looking like you actually are going to have a Reeftank setup once again. Wish that I were closer to give you a hand and return the favor in helping put this one together for you my friend. Anyhow going to be very very nice.

Thanks Todd, going to take time on this one to make sure that I do it right this time. So a lesson that I had to relearn. Research before you buy. I got the reefkeeper net module, and well there is no way to hook it up unless I have a cable from my fishtank to my router and modem. Does anyone out there have a way to possibly hook up it's own router and connect it to the existing home network? Would love some feedback on this one.

Alright never mind the last question. I have it all worked out. I plan on using a xbox wireless client adapter. This adaptor is used for connecting the Xbox to an existing wireless network. The main problem I see right now is converting the USB to Ethernet. I have looked at several different bridges out their with client abilities. Either way I think this could work. I will let you guys know when I get it figured out.

Well still have not figured out the wireless ability for the .net module. At this point though it is just a luxury and not a necessity. So I have continued with the hardwork. The tank is plumbed and the lights are installed. I am trying to figure out how to hang the lighting system. I want to have it suspended over the tank, and cables would work if I did not have vaulted ceilings. So I was trying to figure out a wall mounting with a piano hinge so that I can lift them out of the way when necessary. Any ideas out there. Suggestions would be more then appreciated.
