Looks really good tatz.
Are the brackets for your hood just upsidedown shelf brackets? Are they going to be able to hold the weight?
The rock looks awesome. Heard nothing but good things about Marco.
Do we get to see the underside of the system??

BTW Why would a contractor spend the money on installing a FIRE PLACE in Arizona???

Peppie, the brackets are upside down shelf brackets. They are rated at 600 lbs each when installed properly, when installed the Floyd way I found that they will hold around 200, weight tested and Floyd approved. I took one outside and with a chain and some free weights I slowly added the weights and the weld started screaming at around 250 lbs. So I figure safely 200 lbs. the weights are still hanging in the back yard. Waiting for them to fall.

As far as the rock goes, I ordered 125 lbs of it. So pretty stoked about it. I figure about 20 lbs of live rock and a little cooking time should do good.

Oh and the fire place is a mystery to me as well. people here say it gets down into the thirties during winter. I keep telling them that thirties is when we get our shorts out and switch to tank tops.

I purchased three tv mounts and the problem with them was the weight distribution. My hood is about 24" wide and all of the weight sat 12" out centered. So the mounts even reinforced with a steel plate on the inside of the hood had to much weight extended out wards. So I moved over to these because they come out to about 18" and hold a lot more of the weight.

Glad to here you did a weight test on the brackets. Most people would hold it up and look at it and say " I bet this will work"

I thought about how deep the TV brackets were. There would have to be some serious mods done.

Sweet, I will call. Still have a few things to tweek but tomorrow I should be done. Kirk, I will call you tomorrow.

Well the puzzle is finished!!!!!! The tank is set up and currently cycling. I need to get a new test kit, any suggestions. I am so happy that it is all over. I have to tell you it has been a hectic one. When I first started filling it with water, I forgot to tighten one of the bulkheads down so about 5 gallons of saltwater was all over the inside of the stand and all over the floor. Figured I would have to have at least one issue with plumbing. But once this thing gets settled I cant wait to start stocking it. Mainly corals and a few small fish. I figure abou5 or 6 Anthias and some Chromies. Nothing big this time. Just small and lots of color. We will see. I will post pictures when I get home today.

No but I figured out what the problem is. With the reefkeeper light you can only have 4 modules connected to it. Adding the .net made it 5. So I either have to get rid of one module or buy a reefkeeper elite. Kind of makes me a little upset. And a elite head unit is 200 dollars.

I love the rock work. Your lighting looks spectacular! What are the fimensions of your tank and last question, i think, what kind of leds? I mean colors and wattages. I keep reading and reading and looking at pictures of various led setups and all that, but im not an electrical and lighting kinda guy. Easily confused! But your lighting looks exactly like what i picture in my head that i want! Beautiful!

Thanks with this build I went with Phillips Luxeon Rebel ES 3w. 144 total, 36 cool white, 36 warm white, and 72 royal blues, no optics. The tank is your standard 180, 72" x 24" x 24"

As I have said before " You dont know what you want in a reef tank until you have already ran one"

Or five...... And then you still second guess your purchases. Congrats on the new build Floyd. Take your time and set it up just right.

There are several places to get the Rebels, but I buy mine from Stevesleds.com. I love them, and half the price of Crees.

So tank has been running with water for about two weeks lights and all other peripherals finished a couple of days ago. I have to say the tank is doing good, raw shrimp and a couple of snails, has boosted this cycle period. I know that I have a while before I can put anything serious in there, but a bare tank is boring to look at.

Just throw the cat in there if you are looking for a little action
