Pictures did you get any pictures? Hey Krish is it legal for you to go out on the reef's after a storm and pick up broken pieces? I have read this some were ??? That this is how its harvested from the wild in the Pacific regions
krish75 said:No pics yet Jeff...I honestly couldn't tell you what are on our reefs when it comes to corals. I never really cared for seeing corals...Only fish. Now, I've got a new perspective on things and will take notice of what is really there. A friend of mine dives all the time and says there is tons of Elkhorn and Staghorn here. He also knows a great spot as well which he is going to show me when we go out in the boat next time. About broken off pieces, yeah you can take them. I know people who intentionally break them off though, but I won't. I want to learn how to frag off a small piece though...That way I can get what I want and not hurt anything
Well when you do this you will have to start a work shop
Ok last week We got a pair Of Japanese Pistol Shrimp, Red Snapping Shrimp, They originate from Sri Lanka. Their body is bright red in coloration, and is marked with several white spots. The base of the tail and the claws are also banded in white. These beneficial shrimp will constantly move gravel making them excellent sand stirrers in the reef aquarium, as well as scavenging any uneaten food. I decided to put them in the 75 tank. Thought we had better take a pic of them now before we had put them in the tank. Don't know if we will ever see them in the tank once they go in. They like to burrow and hide under rocks and substrate. Well they have set up a set of tunnels all through my rock work and they are constantly moving sand Like tiny bull dozers the have burms built up at the base of My Montipora Capricornis I am still trying to get a in-the-tank shot I guess well just have to settle for this for now.
I now have 4 diffrent pairs of Pistols in 3 diffrent tanks all getting along quite peacefully If you like sand, crushed coral , substate get a pair of these guys & put them in They are ..fun to watch
