Hello....

so i got my self a unze 6065.... its like a mini 6025's but larger...

i was hopeing to replace my old 6060 (squarish)

i had got a 6080 back a few months ago.. maybe years... i dont know..

but i noticed that the ones on the shelf are not the same as the ones i have..

so looks like i have to get another 6065 to match... but when did this happen?

the switch from old squares to new sphere?

may i add that tunzes rock.....

oh oh oh ... let me get the picture..
by far the most getto thing ive ever done....
but all from free or old equipment that ive bought over the years...

the rock was all found from the shores over the years. (Nc shore to Fl)
theres a few pieces of Figi rock that i bought dry and dead... but since seeded from a bio wheel HOB filter that i keep alive.

so i was thinking that it would be more cost effective to have my rock in this empty tank (back up tank) on the heated side of the bassment (insulated side)

the heaters will run less and the temp will be easy'r maintain...
and observation reason as well...

i can see i have super bad bubble algea. (thank god)
what im geting at... is its time to start maintaion the water of this LR.. for it is the base Rock for the upcomeing build....

Meny pods.. all the snails are fine... also some stomolla corraline is starting to take off as well.... I suspect high nutrient levels...

ill start adding this to the weekly water change list as well...

most of the people around dont remember when i started this thread..

but
thats all dead white base rock... that was aquired free...
seeded with only a bio wheel its now full of meny pods and snails and little life.

this will be the foundation for about another 50lbs of live rock...

when i have the 120 system up ill trasnfer this base rock to the tank... then ill bring the 50lbs of LR and cure and observe that from here as well.

Thats how I did it. Only I made my base rock with cement. There was a few pieces of dead live rock from a previous tank.

The beauty of doing it this way is you can protect the new live rock as the base rock is already cycled.

The critters on the new live rock may never see an ammonia spike.:)
