I'm not for sure whether you have heard of the vortech pump yet. But I have been beta testing it, and blown away.

The pump provides amazing flow, wide spread, small size, sharp looks, excellent design, and great energy efficency.

Currently this pump is my only means of flow in this tank.

Here are a couple of pictures I took of mine:

What is the gallons per hour on that pump. What is it comparable to?
Can't wait for them to advertise a price.

I've read some about these, looks nice. How big is that tank & how many do you have in it? THink this is somethng that could replace a Tunze Stream or a CL?

do you need any help in testing? and has there been any "rumored" price yet? i have a 125 with low flo and i am looking for immediate solutions.

I have no clue whatsoever on price. These unit will be able to replace closed loop systems, and definatley tunzes. It's a great feature that they don't need holes in your glass to run, leaving heat out side your tank.

The features of the pump can be found:
http://ecotechmarine.com/products/vortech.htm

Some of which include a 24 hour battery system for power outages, and a wireless controller, which should be released in the future.

Operating on tanks between 20 and 500 gallons and producing between 100 and 3,000 gallons per hour of flow

As for the flow, this is the numbers according to their site. It is very plentiful.

man they sound so sweet!!!
how did you get to be a beta tester?
funny thing is, when i used to work at blue sierra, one of my good customers named mike(not mike o'brien:) ) who lived in seattle was telling me about this awesome invention he had, it was the very same, motor on the outside, propeller on the inside, he was also making a "cleaning scrubber disc" to go on the inside as well. this was 3 years ago.
i cant help but wonder if it's the same person who made these:idea:

I'm pretty sure the guys that made these are all from the mid-west, but I could be wrong.

If it sounds like "too much" I suggest you read the 35+ page thread over at Reefcentral. They sound and look amazing.

i think what most people are missing is the low energy usage, the heat is kept outside the tank, great variable flow, easy to install and easy to move. add in battery backup and a nice controller - in the future - it's an awesome addition for reef'ers. i put a deposit down on one already figuring it will make a great addition to my tank.

Depending on price, I may get 2 of them. Where did you preorder yours matt? And what price are they quoting you?

Yeah, sounds like the preorder money is fully refundable in the event that it is more pricey than expected. BTW you upgrade to the new tank yet?
