Hmmm with all of my projects complete, I feel that it is time to come up with another. I was wondering what all of your thoughts are on using the..... wait for it...... wait for it.....ALGEA TURF SCRUBBER. I cam across a really cool compact design that seems to work awesome. This guy had undetectable nitrates, and phosphates. I know, I know. This is old news but I drew up a design that I think would be perfect. I will post pictures of it as I go along. Just wanted to hear some pro's and con's that some of you know of.

Man, if you are running out of projects, hop in the car and head my way, I'll fix you right up!

I like the idea, other than the space/splash that I have noticed on other setups, I think it makes all kinds of sense.
I'm looking forward to your build.

As a side note, are you still running the zenia melting uv lights? I have a clam that has zenia growing on the shell, and I want an easy way to clean it off... I'd rather not have zenia in the display.

So a little research and I found out that it is used on a large scale to purify water at water treatment plants. I also found this site and it talks about how good such a scrubber is.

So I know that this horse has probably been beaten a few times over, but not by this guy. So I am about to embark on another adventure that will more then likely have be making several unnecessary trips to Home Depot, at which time the store clerks will make funny comments about the "Fish Guy" and how I should own half of the PVC section.

I do not have the zenia blaster 3000's turned on any more they are lying in a dormant stage until I have zenia shooting up again so that I can erradicate them with low frequency nanometer's

OK so all the algae in my aquarium is actually cleaning the water too? And all this time I have been trying to get rid of it.

Oh yeah, it cleans great, then you pull it out (stop right there Floyd) and you have nutrient export! Just like a fuge only bigger.

From what I am reading on this this process is used on major water refinery plants. I have read though that if harvesting is not completed on a regular basis, it will cause die off of the underlying algea which will just pump the organics right back into the tank. So with a set up like this it is important to properly clean and manage your algea scrubber.

So it is official I have all hardware necessary for this build except for the SCREEN. Where oh where to get Knitters grid. Home depot (NOPE), ACE (NOPE), Walmart (NOPE), Kmart(again NO). Where oh where can my screen beee, why wont it come home to meee!

Damn Floyd, I figured you had some in your knitting basket!
I will try to stop at Joann fabric tomorrow and see what they have. Text me the details.

Thanks for the help today!

Sweet. sounds like a plan, I had my knitting basket sitting off to the side but I must have used my last piece on knitting my #%$% warmer

I will be fitting the lights into the hood, and will post pictures when I am done.

Nice!
I actually laughed out loud at your reply... Text me the info, I'm headed out pretty quick. I can bring your knitting supplies with me tomorrow.
When you finish with the scrubber perhaps I can get you to make me a "#%$% warmer" I'm thinking a nice red with purple trim.
