Reef Aquarium & Tank Building Forum

Help Support Reef Aquarium & Tank Building Forum:

i didn't say it was bad, i just said it didn't make for much chatter...

mfinn, since august you haven't posted a question... so, why aren't you asking?
i'm serious not being a smart a$$. i personally want to see more traffic. i'd like to make this my 'go to site', but its boring, and averages about 10 posts a day....

the experience is awesome... until its not being passed along because there is noone asking.... and i learn more from reading answers.. i'm not often smart enough to know what to post...

we were, and sometimes still are, there. we didnt know how to ask about issues we were having or asking if something could be done or set up a certain way or what ever you might need to ask about. Just blurt it out. We will figure out what your asking or trying to do.

I'm glad to see a few members coming back and posting and contributing a little.

We need to reach out to those new to the hobby and let them know that we are here to help. And that we welcome any and all questions whether they think it may be stupid or not.

Some people have said that they get tired of answering the same questions all the time and the info is here, you just need to search for it.
Yes the info is here and I for one dont mind answering the same questions over and over again and showing others where to find answers and info they may need.

Dont be afraid to ask. No one should be afraid to ask.

thing is, you don't have to answer them over and over again. you can find and link a thread for someone. terms aren't easy in this hobby, and there are 40 names for everything. just getting a question out can be tough.
i also tend to be a bit scattered. i have 4 tanks all in different stages and all started and going in different directions.
then theres the stuff i have'nt even heard of that i should know about.. lol

When I posted my reply, I was simply saying, even those with experience can have questions too.

cool, i didn't mean to "call you out'. just wondered, so i clicked your name.. and again, i'm not trying to be a jerk.. i would like to see more activity, and thought this was a great thread to muse about why it wasn't here...

Some times it is just easier to answer the Q's that are asked instead of searching for a link.

I thinks the more Q's a newbee asks, the easier it is for them to ask more.
I know for a fact there are numerous members here that love to share their knowledge and experiences.

I myself, find my strong points in the building side of the hobby and try to keep my answers and insight to that side.
At times there is a strong DIY following here. It is good to see that there is more than one way to skin a cat.

spieszak...... if there were more types like you here there would be plenty of participation.

As Lorie stated ... Just blurt it out

ah, yes.. i can blabber on about seemlingly nothing for what seesm like an eternity. lol

A few things behind the scenes that didn't help us also. One big one was the software for advertising was actually hurting the search for our forum. Now that I replace the SEO out which will take several months to get the search engines to find us again. This was going on for a very long time, I think this gave opportunity for other forums to move up and gain popularity. Almost immediately with the new seo, we were getting a lot of new members daily averaging ten a day compared to one or two a week. I look forward to next year, I think it will be much better.

hey, while your around.. why are the new posts on the left side of the main forum page al3ays behind whats in the 'whats new' list/lis?

I was beginning to think it was really all my fault LOL

Sometimes people just need to take a break, to get their enthusiasm built back up, I only visit two of these boards, I just haven't been real active on here in a while, for personal reasons. I will try a little harder to be a bit more active in the future :)

Yes,
It can due wonders to take a break.
I backed off for a while recently.
Now that my other interest has some what leveled off I will be harassing members more here when prompted.

One more thing that I haven't seen mentioned in this thread is the fact that Facebook has exploded also, and alot of people have gravitated to that medium instead of forums like this one, just a thought.
