I've grown bored of my SPS and am seriously thinking of switching to an LPS/softy dominated tank. I am looking to other tanks that are in this category. If you have one please either post a pic or a link to your tank thread so I can check it out.

Thanks all!

PS: to those that haven't been in the hobby that long....this is what eventually happens...boredom and change...constantly.

Hey Reed, I still have my main tank as softy

My 72 Softy-LPS Tank: http://www.reeffrontiers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34953

Also have been collecting some sps into another 24g nano I got from Steven11
My 29 nano has become a very mellow Sea Horse tank. SeaHorses could do well in a softy tank if started that way. Mine is a high flow one with some active fish.

Marty FINN could chime in here, he has a 240 softy tank that is quite mature and Amazing!!!

I have a couple of pics in my photo gallery. Mostly softies but some LPS The pics are not that good. Maybe I'll get a new camera for X-mas lol

lol...Thats who i thought he was refering to was Doug...He has given me a few ideas over the years

Mike, I completely forgot about your tank....almost converted me before and I am leaning that way more than ever now. Thanks!

Sid, Just got done looking at Martin's 240 thread.....SWEET!!!!!!!

Hey Martin and Mike, since you are both in this thread now :D, what kind of flow do you think works best for the softies. I am currently running a vortech MP40 in my 80 cube and the leathers I have seem happy. Think that will work well for most softies?

I really believe that soft corals do well with alot of flow. Maybe not SPS flow, but good strong, wide flow.
In my 240 I have for returns, a Poseidon P4 and a Eheim 1262. Then inside the tank a Poseidon P-4 on a closed loop going to 2 sea-swirls, 2 Seio 1500's on a controller and 2 modded Tunze 6045's.

That's just about right, IMO. 40x tank volume.

You won't have to use a turkey baster to blow detritus off the rock.:lol:

Agree with Marty (as always.) Softies are not found in stagnent water, but neither in tidal channels.
They like to collect food that is blowing over them and that takes flow. Amazing how much "wind-brake" a forest of large toads and fingers can perform and thus takes a lot of gallons moving to keep everybody happy. Wide flow such as with your Vortech

Thanks Martin and Mike. I'm getting more and more psyched for this. Now I will just have to find homes for my SPS...but that should be the easy part. Where do/did you guys shop for your softies? Not so much the zoas (I'm not sure I want to have those at this point), but the other softies you keep.

For me it has been dumb luck finding my favorite, neon green sinularias and neptheas.
I would be willing to bet Barrier Reef would be willing to order some nice stuff, if requested.

Im going through same thing finn. So many people do SPS these days its kinda exciting to see some movement from a leather or a xenia, ya know? I'm probably considered a primarly softy/LPS tank now, but the algae is kinda shy and doesnt like its picture taken.

Brett, that avatar is disturbing....but oh so funny.

Any more northend softy keepers? I'd love to do some trading or buying from locals.

That was Brett in character, acting for a school play called "Bad Santa"

I have gotten almost all my softies from other local reefers with trades and purchases.
