the powerhead instead of my live soft coral? They visit during the day but sleep in the same place since they were babys.

probably because there is less waterflow right next to the PH. I'm guessing near the back. At night they need to rest so its less turbulent right there.

I read somewhere that someones clowns actually slept in the corner next to the PH on their side like they were dying. But every morning they'd wake up and be fine. Strange.

Yep..... that's the story. They like the calm water and the temp. there. Thanks.

They are so funny in the morning, so sleepy and slow. They must like their sleeping place.

yes my 2 clowns in my 150 at home had a whole tank to swim and they would never get more than about 2 foot away at most from the power head on the one side! they only moved away for feeding!

Debbie...When I had my clowns, they'd sleep beside the powerhead as well where the flow wasn't as strong. I guess swimming in 100x turnover rate in my tank, they get tired by the end of the day:p

I have one of those Coralife power centers. I have My MJ900 hooked up to come on w/actinics, a Profile 600 and Penguin 1140 hooked up to come on with daylights. That way at night, just my Fluval 305 is pushing water around while my HOB Fuge has another Profile 600 going through it. That will give it more calm waters at night, and let the Bangaii Cardinals I plan on keeping cruise around easier at night.

I never heard that those fish were nightowls. Hehe Who knows what kind of parties are going on when the lights are off?

"The family of Cardinalfish are a group of relatively small fish that like to inhabit reef overhangs and crevices. These fish are nocturnal and do most of their feeding at nightime. They usually have large eyes, two separated dorsal fins, and short snouts. Cardinals are known for being mouth brooders where eggs are incubated inside the mouth of the fish."

I don't have power heads in my tank. Flow is from sump return with a split dual inlet and closed loop with 4 inlets, 1 high and 1 low on each side of the tank. I have the lock fit double Y fittings on the high inlets and my pair hang out up there after the lights go out mostly. Mine get a full on workout during the day in the main area of the tank with the high flow. They are very active and move around alot.

So you would consider them strong swimmers during the day? I mean mine are A. ocellaris (they are relatively strong swimmers during the day). But it is funny like Snwboard mine sleep on their side.

When I get up in the night and check on mine they are over to one side of the tank, up higher, where the current is a bit less ( I think the only place in my tnak with less flow LOL). Anyway, they never seem to be laying down, but swimming, just slower at night in this location. Mine are Onyx True Percs.
