Worm Orgy??

Ok I have been keeping a tank or two for a while now but I cant say I have ever seen this before. I was doing some work in the back pump room when my skimmer began to go nuts, I mean like lift off type of nuts. SO I go around to look into the tank and its completely milky. I take a closer look and their are a million, and I mean a million Bristly worms sticking their tails in the water column and well ..... you know...... blowing their load??? Do they do the group thing like that?? My orp dropped a 100 points while all this was going on.

If anyone in Spokane knows how to capture and transfer bristle worms i could use a few. I think quite a few of mine passed on while i moved my tank last year. The rocks got to cold in the middle of the night while transferring and i found a whole bunch of dead worms in the bottom of the rubbermaid container when making the final transfer to the new location. Wish i could help take a few worms off your hands mojoreef but i think were to far away from each other.

That is a surprising thing to witness. The mini brittle stars in my 75 did that one day. They do the same thing. They all crawled out of the rocks at the exact same time and started spawning. Freaked me out.

That I cant tell ya. Alot of what goes on in the marine is stage on moon cycles, tides and such. I know when I had a moon light type of setup on my tank the urchins, snails and clams would all go off in harmony. It got to the point where I ended up turning it off. This was way more then that though, I mean the tank turn to milk, could see in more then a couple of inches and the orp finally stopped droping after loosing a 153 points.

I've had mini brittles and maxi mini nems cloud up the water a bunch of times. But never seen the bristles do it. That would be a cool video to see. I got pics and vids of some spawning events I can post up later.
