Help... what's wrong with my fish?

Well I'd have to tear down all my rock work to get to him, or wait it out with a fish trap... so my plan of action now is to do a H20 change and test my chemistry again. I also have a phosban reactor I'll be setting up tonight bc I know nitrates have been a little high. I also noticed his tail...

Help... what's wrong with my fish?

Hmmm... I'll see what I got. I knew I should have bought that QT I saw at the goodwill the other day.

Help... what's wrong with my fish?

Ok then I think it may be chemical... I've been working on bumping up my ph with addition of kalkwasser in my h20 top off. However my skimmer went crazy and wet skimmed out a few gallons two nights ago and the ph spiked from 8.05 to 8.6. I'm doing a H20 change to day, so hopefully this should...

Help... what's wrong with my fish?

Hello all... I went and looked in on my fish this morning and my yellow tail damsel looks like his blue scales are almost all missing on one side of it's body, and it's all white where his scales once were. Does anyone know what this is? I'm worried it my spread to my other fish. Included are...

    6-line wrasse... DEAD

I agree with this 100%. There is always risk when introducing new fish, but at the same time we have the knowledge and tools to help improve new additions to our reefs. IMO a QT is a must have for new corals and fish. I hope you have better luck next time around!

    6-line wrasse... DEAD

First off I'm sorry to hear about your loss... it's never a good feeling to lose any fish. But, I think it's unfair to call out Blue Sierra like this... you were aware of their policy and you took the risk. Now if Blue Sierra had a 5 day guarantee, or you could prove they sold you a sick fish...

    Magnesium Supplements??????????

I like Kent Marine's Tech M Mag supplement... and it comes in a 1 gallon jug. I used it for a bryprosis treatment on my 80g tank for a month and I still have about 1/3 lest over. I was able to boost my mag to 1550 for over a month.

    Additives why and what?

Hey I'm in Magnolia too! If you are interested in meeting up sometime and seeing what I add I'd be happy to show you in person.

    Water Test Kits

I would recommend testing mag, ca, alk, and nitrates frequently until you know your system is well established... then pull back on the testing as you feel comfortable. I also always closely monitor my Ph with a Ph monitor. Additionally, a refractometer is key. Later on look into a Ca reactor...

    Plum Crazy Acro Problem

Great advice... I plan on doing this tomorrow on a coral that has the same issue with algae.

Running an air hose to address low Ph

I do have a small fan I can run by the intake/sump so I'll give it a try. But Jeff you have seen my set up before... although it been a while. My system is in the middle of my basement with the reef on one room and the sump and fuge in another room. I get plently of circulation in there, I...

Running an air hose to address low Ph

Has anyone ever ran an air hose to their shimmer to help raise the oxygen content in their system and raise the Ph? If so how far can you run the hose? Do you need an additional air pump for tanks that are far from an outside air source? Thanks!

Need ID on these white spots

Thanks for showing me your tank today Jesse... it's looking GREAT! I'm now 100% sure these are nerite snail eggs, and thanks to everyone else who offered their opinions too.

Need ID on these white spots

Hmmm... crazy mine look just like those too. Did you ever have nerite snails? I've never had Ca deposits in the past with the level my Ca is at now so I'm super confused now. The only thing that has changed is the addition of the snails. I'm going to try to make it over to jezzeaepi's today...

Need ID on these white spots

They don't move, and they look like they have a white shell with a cream footing. Here's a better pic I found online. Mine look exactly like the ones pictured here. I thinking it is not calcium deposits since my levels have been consistently 400-425, and my SPS are doing great. Oh... and if...
