    Mr Gone's filters

Yeap, it cleared up. I'm going to pick up some filter socks from Barrier today and I'll take some pics. We waited a couple days to see how the temperature would settle in. We added two smaller blue hippo tangs yesterday. I started acclimating them but had to leave, my dad said they didn't move...

    Most quiet return pump?

I know you already bought the Eheim but I figured I'd share my experience with the Reef Octopus Water Blaster, its pretty quiet but still vibrates quite a bit. With the cabinet doors you can't hear it. The Bubble Blaster on the skimmer is absolutely dead silent and the two style pumps use the...

    RO/DI replacement filters

I bought the Vertex machine from you guys last year and was wondering if you sell replacement sediment filters for it? I keep forgetting to look/ask the past few times I've been in.

    Mr Gone's filters

They didn't seem to care :D I decided to take a page out of the Reef Frontiers playbook and bought a DJ Power Strip for the skimmer/return pump/etc :) I first learned about it on here :) Its finally running :) we had to use some glass cups to prop up the skimmer. At first there were a ton of...

Issaquah vs Mercer Island city water

I'm running them off the cold water line to the sink, I'm not sure of the exact temperature. Its the Puratek unit with the booster pump, the gauge reads the same at both locations, about 130-140psi. Do temperature and pressure effect the sediment filter? I just thought it was funny how quickly...

Issaquah vs Mercer Island city water

I thought this was interesting, I brought my RO/DI machine into my dads office to fill his tank and its crazy how quickly the sediment filter is turning brown from Mercer Island water compared to Issaquah water. I've put at least 800 gallons through it in Issaquah and it barely had a hint of...

Is heat shrink tubing reef safe?

    Thanks Mike!

    Mr Gone's filters

I wasn't originally going to but decided to give the Oceans Motions a shot on this tank because it seems to fit well (I bought it to use on my next reef tank but I'm not sure if I want to drill a closed loop into it). Started filling the tank, it's been about 9 hours so far and we left it...

Is heat shrink tubing reef safe?

I was thinking about heat shrinking the wires for the float switches I'm installing for my Dad's auto top off and was wondering if regular heat shrink is reef safe? Thanks guys! -Shawn

Has anyone used CaribSea Arag-Alive Hawaiian Black

http://caribsea.com/pages/products/aragalive.html My Dad wants to use black substrate in his tank and I was thinking about this but was kind of hoping for a more consistent/smaller sand. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks! -Shawn

    SWC 250A

What Mike said. I had the problem/fustration epicenter described with my Askoll powered skimmer, lowered the water level to about 5" and it became as consistent as my Euro-Reef. I have it in about 6" of water now, I increased the water level because after a few months the skimmate production...

Whats the biggest amphipod you have?

I'd say just under 1/2", there were a bunch of them hanging out in a spare liverock tank I broke down last weekend.

    DLSR raw photo question??

Assuming the ISO settings remain constant I would look at your work flow for post processing the raw images.

    Mr Gone's filters

Thanks Jason! I've been wanting to but I wasn't sure if you had finished the polishing stuff inside the tank (plus I haven't been to the office). I also need to get going on ordering lights for him, luckily they aren't terribly critical for the first part. I'm going to go in tomorrow morning...

    Mr Gone's filters

It didn't cross my mind. I think we'll see how it goes without them and give Jason a call if we need them. Since the tank itself is covered I think it would be best to try running without them.

    Mr Gone's filters

That looks awesome Jason, it really is above and beyond! Thank you so much for all the work you've done. I haven't seen it yet, I still don't have enough strength/motion in my arms to drive (ugh) but I'm going to try to find a ride in today, I'm dying to see what they look like. TheKraken, I...

    2 tanks 1 sump ?

I run multiple tanks off one sump, just seems logical. Easier to control temperature and evaporation, only need one skimmer, can move stuff around without worrying about acclimation, etc.
