Everyone here has pushed me to the point of a DIY sump/fuge. I am going to take the advice. I was at PETSMART today looking at tanks that may fit. We'll see how it goes. Be looking for a thread on the build. I may start building this weekend.
Pressure treated wood used to have chemicals and I would still think that they do. I just built a deck and the wood that I used didn't have a natural look to it in comparison to your normal everyday 2x4's. I wouldn't be to weary of building it with PT wood but I do personally feel that it...
Are the "pods" transparent and organ-less? I ask because I had some very neat organisms growing that moved by squeezing their bodies and releasing. I loved them but since they have disappeared. I do have a collection of snails that are so tiny you can barely see them. I kinda think that they...
Maybe I am confused. The surface skimmer that I have chosen flows 600. I am guessing that I would turn down the flow from the surface skimmer?
I would flow the 600 GPH through the tank easily. I love flow. Lol

It will look like what is in the picture there in between the hoses and tank. I am assuming that is what is most common?
3 90's so I will come up from the pump with a black rubber hose into PVC. My first 90 will be going over the lip and then the second down into the tank. Last but not least the third 90 will be 1 to 2 inches into the tank to direct flow.
All I am doing is going from a surface skimmer to a sump and back up. You also have a 600 GPH pump so that might be the best for me. I just won't restrict it but restrict the down flow from the surface skimmer to compensate for the lack of flow back up. That is what I am shooting for. Now I...
That makes sense. All I would be doing is restricting flow which in turn means that it would put more force on the pump. I will tell you I am not thinking today. I start back college tomorrow and have to much on my mind I guess.
I know it wasn't put there specifically for the glass top. After rereading my previous post, yeah I'm a jackass. In a bow front the center of the bow in the front glass is going to hold a lot of pressure, the plastic brace is to prevent flex of the front glass from the sides. Wasn't thinking...
No shipping quote today so if they don't get with me soon I am going to do it myself. I have taken everyones advice into consideration and think that might be the best route anyway. We will see. If I build a DIY I will order the return pump off your site. I found one earlier.
I agree that it seems pointless for there to be a brace centering the tank and it having no other use than what I stated. I personally just have to wonder why there was no tension on it filled compared to empty.
It will be fine. Several years ago I had a bow front aquarium. When filled with water there was no tension on the center plastic brace. I think that it is there for the sole purpose of keeping the glass cover from bowing beneath the waterline. If you wanted to replace it with something I...
My last one died because it was eaten by a juvenile eel. My last tang was only little bigger than the size of a quarter to half dollar. I ordered it wanting the smallest available. Well then no tang. :( I am working on selling several different items which all of that money will go into a...
I just answered my own question by investigating some of the stickies that are at the top of the board.
1'' of fish per 5 gallons is a standard way of thinking when bio-load is taken into consideration.
I have a diamond goby, 2 false percs, peppermint shrimp, hermits, snail, emerald crab, small blue hippo (died but being replaced), and I am wanting to put a lawnmower blenny and/or a seahare. Would this be to much in a 29 gallon tall?
