How much head pressure do I have?

Yes, and Yes, the eductors will dramatically increase head pressure, but because you're getting a venturi effect, they will boost overall flow. The majority of it however will be comprised of water that is already in your display. It will slow down the flow through your sump (which isn't...

Thinking of trying Tiger / Snake Skin Sponge

However, Tunicates are much hardier than most sponges IMO. You are correct in assuming thet the so called tiger sponge is actually a tunicate colony that seems to be getting more popular in the trade. Some good evidence as to whether or not you can keep it is whether or not you have other...

    Goniopora polyformis

And on another side note, they are not omnivores, and algae and rotifers will be useless to them. I do believe that in the wild these guys thrive in pretty nutrient rich waters, much more so than we could really create in our tanks without major problems for our other inhabitants, which is why...

    Goniopora polyformis

Pods are realistically probably just a little small. These guys like it chunky. It really is amazing to watch just how darn big a chunk of food they will eat. And unlike most of your anemones and stuff, they won't regurge it back up. They process their food really quickly. I feed mine...

How much head pressure do I have?

Not if your already cutting your flow in half by the time it even reaches the loc-line. The head pressure you have even without the loc-line installed is reducing your overall flow to around 760gph. Now a 3/4x1/2x1/2 loc-line wye is going to have a maximum flow rate of 1140gph at I believe...

    T5 retrofit kit

Absolutely 6 bulbs...actually I would buy a second ballast and run overdriven UVL bulbs...nearly doubles your light output with the same number of bulbs. I'm running over-driven 39/60w on my 240, and I can't tell you enough what a difference it makes.

what kind of glue should i can i use?

Take the free floating polyps, place them in a tupperware container with some LR rubble and GENTLY place it in the bottom of the aquarium in a super low flow area. They will attach themselves in a few days and can then be glued to bigger rocks with super glue gel or ICE gel as stated earlier.

How much head pressure do I have?

I don't think so, tht sounds about right, and if you think about your low flow coming out of the loc-line it makes sense. If you're only getting a total flow rate of 760gph at that head pressure coming out of 4 outlets, that would equate to a mere 190gph per outlet. OUCH! A couple of things...

Any suggestion would like a quiet internal pump?

Actually, I've used Mag pumps for my returns for a long time. The trick to making them quiet is to have a little bit of back pressure. I run two 9.5's, and with just the slightest restriction theiy're silent.

How much head pressure do I have?

The loc-line probably won't really factor in to your head pressure other than a really minimal amount of friction loss and latteral head. 3/4" loc-line flows at 1140 gph, so a lot of it will depend on your pump size. I would venture to guess you're looking at about 10.75' of head with a pump...

    Goniopora polyformis

Feed it daily, meaty bits of size, and each polyp must be fed if it's to survive for any leangth of time.

    What are these...possible pest?

In a lot of cases simply doing a large water change in addition to your normal routine will knock them down.

Buying my first 8 foot tank...need advise.

Sorry guys, haven't updated this in quite a while. Just thought I'd share a couple of pics of my new etss revolution 750. This thing is sweeeeeeet. It's like watching milk being stirred in the reaction chamber, and this is how much skimmate it pulled out overnight.

    Any ID on this?

might be some sort of hydroid. In any respect, I would try and rid them.

    Another Lighting Question

The Sun Pods are GREAT fixtures, but you'll want to use a different bulb than the Current 14k's. They pink out rather quickly (within a few months). I have a 48" 2x150 with XM 20k's in it and I love the fixture. Worth the money IMO. 3 250's will produce a lot of heat, and may not...

    RBTA pieces

My RBTA will lose tentacles from time to time like this. I've seen what causes it with mine. He's a particularly sticky little suck and every now and again he'll stick a tentacle to a rock and just the motion of the flow he's in will tear the tentacle off as the crown sways back and forth...

Buying my first 8 foot tank...need advise.

I did, and I sealed all of the intake fittings with silicone, tried removing the screen, valved it down to about half flow, and it made "some" improvement, but nothing to write home about. The next logical step is to swap pumps and see if there's a change.

Buying my first 8 foot tank...need advise.

lol...it works really well, cost me about $20 to build and holds enough kalk for about a years worth of dripping for the few SPS/clams that I have.

Buying my first 8 foot tank...need advise.

lol 989, that would be a home grown kalk reactor. Works REALLY well, but it slid in my truck and broke one of the fittings coming through the bucket. Will fix it this weekend. I have a feeling that the bubble trouble is coming from the pump itself. As soon as I get Jonas paid for the...
