I know the feeling, I have two danes and a mastiff puppy that are constantly knocking furniture around.

    duncans...

To answer your question about what they generaly cost, most of your LFS's will sell them between $15-30 per polyp.

two spot hogfish killing my hector's goby

If you can, put your hog in a strainer floating around in the tank for a few days and give the goby a chance to settle in. Kind of like seperating cats and dogs when they're first introduced. Gives them a chance to get used to being around each other and realize neither is a threat to the other.

    Another alk/pH question

Salty, I missed the part where you stated you are running a 3 inch (probably deeper in some spots) sand bed. Do you stir your sand bed? Stirring once a week or sooner will help keep it from being a hot bed for decomp and CO2 production.

    Another alk/pH question

Salty, I use a Kalkreactor as my MAIN means of keeping my pH/ALK balanced, however, I also dose both Seachem Reef Complete and Reef Calcium (1/2 amounts each) in order to gain the benefits of both ionic calcium and calcium gluconate whenever I need to bump my calcium up. Occasionally I have to...

    Another alk/pH question

I suspect that you may also have some other sort of chemical imbalance happening here to further exacerbate your problem. What are some of your other readings such as magnesium/calcium? What kind of sand bed do you use if any? fuge? no fuge? macro or niuscance in the display? With you...

    Another alk/pH question

You don't neccessarily have to have nitrates/trites or ammonia to have organic decomp happening in your tank either. I run a really nutrient rich tank because of the way I feed, with no traces of NO2 NO3 etc., but I still fight pH ALK drops all of the time becuase just having a nutrient rich...

    35 gallon hex tank

As far as the skimmer goes, for a 35gal tank, the berlin should be plenty sufficient for an inexpensive skimmer.

    Alk Question

The nice thing about superbuffer is it won't bump your pH above about 8.4 max. I wouldn't hesitate to use it as long as your tests come back as correct.

    Alk Question

I would have your LFS recheck your test readings. With as many water changes as you're doing, even a tank full of clams and really bad salt should keep your readings above 2.0mq/L. Make sure you don't have a bunk test kit.

Ahhhhh the power of the iPhone.

I took these shots with my iPhone just to see what I could come up with. While they're not pro quality, it's pretty amazing what you can do with some of the new photo software available for the 3G.

    Sump Question

NP Tyler, anytime. As far as hoses with Y's, if you're using flex hose you can buy barbed tee's at any hardware store. If it's PVC, you can just tee off of the down pipe.

    Where to buy Zoas?

Blue Sierra has a TON of zoas in stock right now. Lot's of inexpensive frags too. They just got some funky neon yellow/Green polyps in that are pretty cool. Much brighter green than your typical radioactive. Might buy some myself.
