suggestions for people shipping..This happened to me.

Huge problem on eBay, I'm surprised it isn't against the rules. I'm trying to buy a cell phone. Phone costs $160 or so (MPx220) but shipping is $4-50. Can't they just come out and say the phone costs $200, like it does? This seems to happen with everything I look up on ebay, I hadn't though...

charlie I used to store my RO water in a regular old 30 gallon trash bucket, 0 TDS going in, it was 25-30 coming out. Like huffing paint- for fish! Don't worry kids, theres enough for everyone....

What would you put in a 90gal???

What would I do with a 90 gallon tank? Hmm... How many Russell's Lionfish can you keep in a 90? [*grin*] But seriously, lions are amazing. I knew they were beautiful, but it wasn't until I got mine that I realized just how gracefull and friendly they are. You know how some fish (like...

What would you put in a 90gal???

Thats disgusting. The fact that the fish may be cheap doesn't mean you should advocate people buying them, supporting the harvesting of a fish that very rarely can be kept. Irresponsible at best... I've read alot of your posts, and respect you, but dude, not cool...

    The unhappy anemone...

Warning, long, detailed post. Day one (Saturdat) Ok, about two weeks ago, we tore our tank completly down to clean, move, and switch to Tropic Marin. We took all the corals and fish, and put them in about 6 gallons of water from the reef in a seperate tank for the night. We then filled the...

    Brand of Salt preferred

I've been using Oceanic, and fighting problems with high calcium, low alkalinity. When I ran out, I made the switch to Tropic Marin, and am very happy so far. I can see a noticable difference in my LPS, and the tank looks great (could be attributed to a 100% water change and completly tearing...

    POLL: Salt Mix

Not the results I was expecting, I'll have to reevaluate my oppinions of IO.. I've been using Oceanic for over a year, first buying my water premixed from SWC (when they still used Oceanic) and later mixing my own. We just switched our reef entirely over to Tropic Marin, but its still to early...

suggestions for first coral - 12 gallon aquapod with 2 fish

I second the leather, but I'm partial to them. They could eventually outgrow a twelve, so it might be a good idea to start with mushrooms or zoas that multiply, instead of getting humongo ;) First coral I ever kept sucessfully was a green leather toadstool. I have a tank full of it now...

    my new Stichodactyla gigantea

Nice! ;) One of my (many) goals is to someday setup a tank for just some carpets alone, and maybe a few percs....

    Quarantine chaeto?

You'd be surprised how resilent cheato is. I had a tank full of uncured live rock that I tossed some cheato in, forgot about, and was still green after maybe a month or more with no light at all (not even windows) I've seen a very nice tank that I used to do maintenance on get a nasty case of...

    Stuff from the sound

I've tried clams unsucessfully once or twice. I've got my heart dead set on setting up a tidepool tank full of local critters, but I've been waiting to get my dive certs. If you don't keep the critters I'll set them up with there own home ;)

    Green like peas.....

I'm sitting here logging on, and Laura comes back in my room to tell me the waters green. What? I follow not knowing what shes talking about, and find that her tank has turned green. Well, I turn off the actinic, and sure enough, the water was thick yellow. I had just added Red Slime Remover...

    Starting a LFS

I'd drop into the Kahuna corals sponsor forum and send Barry a PM. You're to far away to compete, so he might be willing to share, I think he's been in business for 8-9 months now... I've got great respect for the investement my former employers at saltwater city had into the store just in...

To Spraybar or not to spray bar...

It has the same footprint as a 55. 48" long, I forget the rest ;) As soon as I get some software installed I'll upload a diagram (lol) of what I'm trying to do. Right now I just reinstalled Windows, so ;)

To Spraybar or not to spray bar...

My new tank has a Spraybar all built in, and I also added two lockline returns for a SCWD. I'm going to have a sandbed, so should I use the spraybar as a main return anyway, and make the SCWD a closed loop, or should I just plug the spray bar and use my SCWD as a main return? I'm leaning...

    my new anemone

LOL The injured one isn't the one that split ;) A RBTA (not pictured) took a trip down the overflow, and got split.

    my new anemone

It definatley split. Amazing how fast it happened though. Same with out little one. Got injured (torn in half) by a overflow and just days later he's all healed up...

    my new anemone

Our RBTA took a trip down the overflow, so we replaced it with this guy (the frogspawn didn't seem to like being a host) Lo and behold, a peice of our RBTA that we thought would die for sure, has just poped back out of the rockwork and is looking very good, so we now have 3 anemone's in the 29...
