    beckett injector

I got mine from some garden supply store over a year ago. If you do find them, get a bunch :) Sorry I don't have better info. Jamie

    fathead anthias is this normal???

I have seen anthias do that. However - If you notice that he has trouble swimming or can't hold his position in the water he may have a damaged air bladder due to improper collection. They are deep water fish and this happens sometimes. Hopefully everything will be fine :) Jamie

    beckett injector

Oh, it is really easy to make one like that. All you need is a 1/4" tap and drill bit for it, the 1" pvc coupler (get it at Home Depot or Lowes), a 1/4" ball valve (from Home Depot) and some o-rings for the beckett (get from the sink repair aisle in Home Depot). Take the top and bottom rings...

    Pyramid snails only on Astreas?

I had a major infestation of these on my astreas - nothing ever on my clams. I don't have any astreas anymore however :(

    Calfo Manifold for 180 gallon?

Update - I have purchased everything for the CLMS. I' am going with: - 1.5" around the top of the tank, above the trim. It's too bulky to be below the trim - 3/4" outlets. I am experimenting with different configurations. Currently, I am going with a sch 80 nipple cut in half with a 45 deg...

    Greetings from Switzerland

Hey Iwan - Welcome to RF. Awesome tank.

    Calfo Manifold for 180 gallon?

In your opinion, moving to 1.5" with a hammerhead pump and 3/4" effluents would suffice as the sole source of circulation in a 180 for keeping the kinds of animals I described? I'm just clarifying, since that seems to be the negative of your above statement. I'd like the CLM to be the main...

    Calfo Manifold for 180 gallon?

Thanks for the advice anthony. I haven't started the manifold yet, that's why I asked what corals you were keeping prior to copying your design. I'd like to have a rather high energy setup, as I plan on keeping acroporids and similar stonies that usually thrive in areas of higher flow. Other...

    Calfo Manifold for 180 gallon?

Anthony - Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it. You can actually see the manifold from the viewing pane of the tank when it is behind the trim, it's just that having it above the trim would make my access a little more limited. I'll see if I like it, as you have said before PVC is cheap. I...

    Re-Aquascaping with a DSB

Paul - Thanks for chiming in. I always respect your opinion here and elsewhere, since you're one of the few who has 'Been there, done that'. Don't you have an asphalt substrate ;) ? liveforphysics, What's the tupperware container for? I'm going to start mixing water this weekend for the...

    Calfo Manifold for 180 gallon?

I will use 1.5" up to the manifold and will run a complete loop. I will be able to cap off some outputs, that way I have some flexibility. I will take photos during assembly. More input?

    Calfo Manifold for 180 gallon?

Ok - moving right along, I got most of the supplies for the manifold. I have, due to asthetic reasons, chosen to use 1" pipe for the manifold, reducing to 3/4" outlets. I purchased 1" -> 3/4" reducing tees, threaded for the manifold. I chose to go with threaded because then I can use...

    Vacuuming sand bed

It sounds like your fuge was doing exactly what it was designed to do - give you a place to grow algae for nutrient export. Since the caulerpa was going crazy, every time you remove it to clean around the drain the nutrients that the algae used to grow are removed from your tank. I am going to...

    Re-Aquascaping with a DSB

Oh, its no problem, I like a good civil discussion. BTW, to prevent corraline, just swipe a magnet cleaner over all the glass once a day. That prevents it from taking hold, it's easier to remove when it's REALLY little. I think the RUGF idea is interesting, and I am glad it works for some, I...

    Calfo Manifold for 180 gallon?

Thanks for the pic, that explains a lot. Do you have any photos of how it looks from the front? I think a hammerhead would be enough flow, but with 12 or so outputs. I have an Ampmaster 3000 right now, so I don't think it can handle 12 outputs. It might even be better to run two darts, and...

    Calfo Manifold for 180 gallon?

rudeanduncouth - Do you have, or could you get some photos? I'd really like to see how you pulled it off. I tried the 1" PVC under the trim last night and it is not that prominent. It is much less of a problem than 1.5" would be. When my AM dies, I'm going to get a hammerhead (most likely)...

    Calfo Manifold for 180 gallon?

lebloom I am sure it would, as long as you have a big enough pump. Check out this thread: http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=520145 Most of your questions will be answered there. I am looking for photos of setups like the one I described. If you have it, post it...

    Re-Aquascaping with a DSB

Thanks for the input - No, I was asking what I should do with my fish while I am re-aquascaping. Mojo's plan sounds good for the process, but I'd have to find a time when the wife and kid are out since it will make my house smell like low tide ;)
