    Shark Reef rules!

I just want to say how awesome it was to visit Shark Reef! I was completely blown away by the prices and the friendly service! If it wasn't for the picnic I probably wouldn't have ever gone there, but I probably will only buy corals there from now on. If you haven't been there before, it's...

    June PSAS Picnic & Raffle

Quick question about transporting livestock. I'm coming from seattle and am taking the ferry. What should I bring - if anything - to transport corals and stuff I hope to buy or win? Would a small cooler do the trick? What is everyone doing?

    Brand of Salt preferred

I've been using Seachem's Reef Salt and I have been very happy with it! Calcium is above 400 and pH is about 8.2 without any additional buffer! If you have a reef tank I would highly recommend this mix. I buy it at Denny's in Totem Lake, the only local place that i've seen it besides the...

What would you like to see in the PSAS?

Has anybody checked into having PSAS join the LiveAquaria Business Partner Program? Might mean some great deals for our members?! http://www.drsfostersmith.com/general.cfm?gid=479 The Pres should check it out.

    swapping tanks

I have a problem :( My 20 gallon tank has a slow leak that is increasingly getting worse every day. I have recently purchased a new 29 gallon and plan on "swapping" the tanks (I want to reuse the same stand) and sump. I plan on filling a rubbermaid bucket with saltwater and holding my rock in...

    Remora skimmer modifications

Doesn't the Remora have an adjuster knob/screw to get a more concentrated skimmate? (I've never used a Remora personally). Then you wouldn't have to worry so much about the cup overflowing, right? Oh yeah, how fast is "very quickly"?

    Tunze Nano Skimmer

Recently, after my last waterchange, my nitrates were undetectable. I am hoping it is caused by my skimmer and my responsible feeding - and not a bad test kit. When I do my waterchanges, I syphon the bottom of refugium and pull a bunch of fish waste too. As for a larger collection cup, I'm...

    Tunze Nano Skimmer

I was wondering what type of pump the Tunze Nano came with - it doesn't say. Are you saying it's a Sendra? I can't complain about the noise, it's much quieter than my Mag7 that's for sure!

    Tunze Nano Skimmer

Actually, I'm not sure that the algae is actually caeto - but it looks similar (ball of fishing line). In the middle picture you can see the brown "junk" on the bottom of the refugium area that I syphon out when I do a water change. The bag in the sump return area is Kent Marine Reef Carbon...

    Tunze Nano Skimmer

Here are the pics! Left side is my Mag7 return pump in return area. Middle is the refugium with caeto macro algae and heater. Right side is bubble trap baffles (hard to see clearly), Tunze Nano skimmer (bottom right) and overflow from tank (top right). I hope you like what you see - I will...

    new store!!!!

I know there is a vacant building for lease on 167th and Aurora Ave N in Shoreline that hasn't had a tennant for some time (years?). There are two buildings and has loading docks in the back. I don't know about the price, but everytime I drive by there I imagine (dream) how great it would be...

    Tunze Nano Skimmer

dmorton, I sent you a PM. For everyone else, the skimmer's pump is internal and it has a very small footprint. The recommended water level is 8" I believe, but mine is closer to 9" and works great. You will need at least 16" of headroom to get the collection cup out easily. I designed a...

    Tunze Nano Skimmer

This is my Tunze Nano skimmer at work in my 10 gallon sump/refugium. I cleaned the collection cup this morning at around 9am and these pictures were taken at about 9pm. As you can see from the pictures, you can't see the bubbles inside at work really so?? All I know is that it is working and...
