    North End Reefers?

Resonable newbie here, bothell/mill creek area. I'm interested in getting more involved with reefers, I know there's several people around my area but we never seem to join up for anything. I'm working on getting a tank up and running again so hopefully eventually I'll have stuff to contribute...

    RoDi questions

So I bought my first Rodi system from a fellow reefer and i've got a few questions. Whats the normal waste water generated? I'm getting more waste water than pure (about 3 times as much) out of my sink. I don't have a pressure gauge or a TDS meter to test any of it yet but i'm curious why it has...

    harlequin

i had 2 of them (actually the reason i got into saltwater) and both were killed by a hermit (damn that hermit) ntw i fed mine about once a week, one leg at a time. they'd eat most of it and leave the rest in the tank for me to remove. they seem to distaste the frozen legs. if you can though...

    New rock with some issues.

for the algae problem i have to say go and buy like 2-5 emerald mithrax crabs, cool to watch, the ones (2) i had cleaned my ~15lbs of rock overnight they love the stuff and once they finish that off they tend to go after leftover food and i've yet to see them harm a snail or anything else (did...

    Damn Humans!

i was lucky enough to see that tank just a couple weeks ago when i was visiting my sister in clearwater FL. The fish were beautiful, though the tank/setup seemed very plain to me, and were in excellent condition from what i observed. Its a sad thing that people have to be idiots and destroy...

    shrimps and feather dusters dying

I agree sounds like something may have gotten in your tank (ie copper) or your params are off (a spike in ammonia could have killed the feather dusters and the shrimp though the corals would likely show some signs of stress)

Best way to get rid of green hair and red algae

it all depends on where the excess of nutrients are comming from... if its over feeding of the corals: feed less + water changes Posphorus levels: change foods (or not) + phosban reactor Nitrate problem: more live rock, more flow, add DSB and skimmer if theres not already one Just from the 1...

    Refugium help

A 4 inch deep is customary as any more is a waste of sand and any less reduces the anaerobic bacteria load, I'd just forget the LR and just throw in some chaeto and call it good

Darn that's what I figured, those tiny ones that lfs just got in are so cute though.

    Rbta + mandarins

I've heard it both ways and was wondering your guys take on this People have told me that you should never keep a mandarin in a tank with a nem cause the mandarins are just too slow and without scales are inevitably doomed in such a tank to become food. Opposed to that others say due to their...

    fowlr setup

I disagree on it being "everything needed for a reef tank" but i'm personally running a FOWLR 125g and i have 2 t5HO bulbs over my tank and it looks nice to me, Though i just ordered a new fixture with 4 bulbs that will fit my tank better At any rate for a FOWLR lights aren't as important...

Has anybody has experience with serpent star injuries

I have no previous experience with them in particular but I know from other species of starfish that as long as they are still able to feed and have a majority of their center disc that they can recover No, its not a form of spawning/reproduction moreso it was probably either getting pinched by...

    SW Newbie, Hey Guys

The water should be fine for a while but you could just turn it on the day/a couple hours before your water changes and then turn it off once you have what you need + 5-20 gallons extra ( it's always better to have extra rodi water just in case when doing water changes especially as a semi...
