What kinds of coral can i keep?

I have been under minimum lighting for some time now and have an RBTA, some mushrooms, Kenya trees, finger leather, pulsing xenia, and candy cane corals. I just upgraded to duel icecap 660's and changed over to 2x72" (1x50/50, 1x10k) & 4x48" (2x50/50 & 2x14k) and left the 2 50/50 96watt PC's...

    Something's bothering my RBTA.

No flow change, or any additions other than the fish that i added. And he hasn't moved.. Just isn't opening up fully and looks stressed. Yesterday for the first time in weeks he got his bubble tips and seemed to be a little better but still not back to normal :(

    Something's bothering my RBTA.

I do feed him fresh scallops occasionally and mostly mysts shrimp, krill and squid. Feeding for him and my candy cane are once to twice every 2 weeks. and as i stated above I plan on going to MH but I have seen many very happy RBTA's under PC's witch makes me think there might be something...

    Something's bothering my RBTA.

Lighting consists of 8 96w PC (4-10k, 2-act, 2-50/50) He rests within the rockwork about 2/3 own in the tank and a rough measurement is about 13" deep. bulbs are relatively new oldest is ~4 months old. I also have the timers set to alternate sump to display to help with any PH swings from...

    Something's bothering my RBTA.

Thank you for you're concern but the RBTA was introduced 8 months ago and the 4 new additions were added almost 1 1/2 months ago. there was a very slight spike of nitrite (<1) but i never saw any spike in ammonia ( I tested daily for about a week and use Reefcon to keep track of parameters when...

    Something's bothering my RBTA.

My RBTA was happy as could be. Always extended and now he's opening up but no longer extends and I havn't seen what might be causing it.. It started a few days after adding a few new fish so I'm figuring it might be one of them nipping at it or something. I added a large foxface rabitfish, 2 pj...

I need some feeback on sump design. pro's/con's?

I was originally thinking of going with a closed loop but decided that I would rather keep allot of water flowing threw existing plumbing rather than have a PVC nightmare behind the tank ;) The tank is a 135g aga tempered so no drilling :( I have a overflow rated at 1600GPH and was thinking...

HELP!! RBTA attacked by Surpent star! any hope?

I would like to first state that after being up till 4am and having to get up to work again at 7am I was a little cranky when I posted the last reply, and I apologize for my short temper. As for all the posts since then.. I'll answer them all in this post one by one. Was in my 1st post. Was...

HELP!! RBTA attacked by Surpent star! any hope?

Since you were so blunt at you're assumptions on my husbandry, here's the tests. Nitrates: 0 Nitrites: 0 Phosphates: 0 Ammonia: 0 dKH: 11° Temp : 79.5°f SG : 1.025 As for feeding. I spot feed the serpent and anemone, and my 2 clowns get fed every other day ~1/6 of one block of assorted...

HELP!! RBTA attacked by Surpent star! any hope?

Defiantly not splitting and wasn't caught in a powerhead. That whitish area was what I was taking a picture of. It was actually a hole in the side of it's stock with (for a lack of better naming) innards folded outwards around the edges (I'm assuming this is the mesenterial filaments you...

HELP!! RBTA attacked by Surpent star! any hope?

I turned on the lights after finding that my new glass cleaner sucks on salt crept glass and noticed my water was cloudy. After looking around for a few minutes I noticed my RBTA was almost all the way closed up and it was very deflated. I moved the rocks so that I could get him to a better...

Scyphozoan Polyps. Are they a problem?

From what I have read, They are moon jellyfish and I don't think I'll worry about them.. Saw one detached from the rock and attached to the tank glass as a tiny jellyfish, then one of my snails came by and ate it :p As for picking them off with tweezers. to the naked eye there only a speck of...

Scyphozoan Polyps. Are they a problem?

Any clue on the best way to get rid of them? I'm not going to scrub the rocks and I don't like chemicals. Is there anything that eats them?

Scyphozoan Polyps. Are they a problem?

I just noticed 2 hydroids in my tank today and found pictures of them on the net, but for the life of me I can't figure out if there a problem? One of them is a Scyphozoan, but i can't seem to find anything on the other. There is hundreds of them all over the upper 3/4 of my tank on the rock. I...

dKH rising? How to fix it? Should i?

Salt gone. But I've always been partial to API kits. after all these years, they've never steered me wrong yet. My buddy brought his kit over and got the exact same readings as me. Although it's funny that you mention raising salinity since I over the past month raised from 1.022 to 1.025...

    deep sand bed users

And that would be the correct statement :p Unfortunately the process of sedimentation applies and the smaller particles will end up on the bottom of you're sandbed :(

dKH rising? How to fix it? Should i?

I used Kent Marine Liquid Calcium and it reads : add 1/4 tsp per 50g each day, based on animal load. For best results, use Kent marine Superbuffer-dKH or new Pro-buffer dKH to support system KH. Strontium & Molybdenum supplement will enhance performance. May be used with Kalkwasser to increase...
