    Icecap 660 question

Maybe try a magnet? If the fuse has a metal cap on the end it might pull right up with the fuse cover. I've never had a fuse blow in an Icecap. Each of the handful of times my bulbs didn't fire it was due to inadequate connection between the bulb and the end cap.

Calcium Reactor does not raise ALK????

I agree with Surf buddy. Calcium reactors are not meant to raise Ca/Alk. They are intended to maintain Ca/alk levels once they have been set my other means (separate ca and alk additives). Raising Ca but not alk? I've never heard of that. You aren't using Oceanic salt are you? The last...

    Where did the science go?

Great thread Donw! Thanks for bringing this as a *new* thread whole in and of itself. Now truthfully, who has a log book and faithfully uses it? You got me. I have at least a half dozen log books but I tend to lose them or forget to record notes. I go through spurts in my note taking. If...

RF too? I wish I had a NASA style control room full of computer screens so I could follow all of these threads simultaneously. The ceiling cat is hilarious.

    My Tank Has A Bullseye

If it's in a discrete location, why not just silicone a small piece of glass over the spot? This has been described in many books on the hobby. If the windshield repair looks like it will work - kudos.

Whats the Best Way to Move a Reef Aquarium?

I moved many tanks when I was in college (with nearly zero casualties). I've never moved a reef in less than 12 hours. Last time I moved my 65 it took 18 hours and I only had to move it 10 miles. The best advice I can give - buy a cheap baby pool and set it up in the living room at your...

    Inherited Tank

What does 'hard cleaners' include? Glass is an inert material - you will probably be OK. * Bleach - OK * Vinegar - OK * Muriatic Acid - OK * Baking Soda - OK * Windex - OK if washed off * General Soaps - OK if washed off well My last tank came with the worst hard water stains I have...

Mistakes #..........how to not set up a Calcium reactor

Mythbusters popped the top off of one and shot it through a cinderblock wall. I doubt it could go into the ground like that but a cinderblock wall is pretty impressive in my book...http://mythbustersresults.com/episode63

Mistakes #..........how to not set up a Calcium reactor

That sucks. I heard a similar story recently where a guy leak checked his unit by connecting it to the garden hose. He too failed to open the effluent valve. Same results - blew the side out. Way to go on doing it while the wife was away. If only I could be so lucky when I make these...
