T5 or VHO for supplemental lighting?

if your going to run icecap ballast then I would go with the t5's but if not I would go with the vho for the par ratings and better depth penetration

    Sump Layout

I would think that bubbles etering the fuge is not a big deal but if they get into the return section then you will have them in the display...everything I have read shows the bubble trap just before the retyrn section!

    help please

def add some established live rock and seed the sand bed...both really good ideas and will help speed up the aquarium in becoming established and cycled! I would also suggest cleaning the sand if it was previously used in a tank.

Whats the Best Way to Move a Reef Aquarium?

sounds like a pretty good plan, though I would not leave the sand in the tank. The wieght of the sand can cause the tank two tweak and crack.

    Lighting!!!

I have alwasy acclimated the tank to new lighting by raising it up about 18" off the water then slowly lowering it every other day. I have also heard of people using window screen to diffuse the light! add multiple layers to the top of the tank and remove one every couple days...hth :)

    My 90g braceless framless build!

I may give clowns a shot one more time but I think I have pretty much given up on clowns all together :( I tried a few perculas back in the day when my 40g reef was in full bloom and I had no luck. They always ended up swimming around for a few weeks with their endtrails hanging out and then I...

Thanks for the link logik, I looked at this a few times and I dont think I would go this route. I cant see how any of the life that is in the fuge could possibly get back to the display and for me that is one of the major reasons for it. I do like the idea thougha dn may do something like this...

    My 90g braceless framless build!

thanks, I really like the way it turned out! I bought the mermeaid from a shop on the central coast that imports all of their product from bali, its about a 1/2" thick so I just glued it to the hood and stained it.
