    Trochus spawning

thanks Nikki...nice shots of yours...mine mostly look cloud like (?males)...i also notice tons of babies in 2=4 weeks...altho i havent noticed a lot of bigger ones in several months...but they are good at hiding... the neat thing with the babies is their shell position changes relative to body...

    Trochus spawning

Hey all...wanted to share...sorry pics aren't the best, my trochus spawn about every 30-45 days (havnt kept track good enough), but it occurs 30 min. after the main lights go out, leaving just the actinics (2 x 55's )... best pics i have so far...the corals and others seem to go nuts...takes an...

A 750g SPS system is born

Looks fantastic... i might recommend something like a barrier or something so you don't pull up too much and nudge the plumbing (something i would do )... i am almost too intimidated by the amount of equipment you have...i am still a beginner tho :)

    A Saga: Nikki's 120 gallon

Nikki...i have a regular fox face..and he will do his camo thing at weird times...never seems to make sense...not while my hand is in the tank moving stuff...but if you walk by the tank wrong...he freezes and you would swear he died...i thought he died too many times the first month but now i am...

    My new setup

thanks Mike flow is pretty good in there, but the pipe is ok... he seems to hug the sides where he can pick off the pods..of which there are plenty... my plan for the lagoon is seahorses, pipes, a few gobies (lawn mower/shrimp)...beyond that, i am open to suggestions...i dont' need a heavy...

    My new setup

Thanks for the enthusiasm Nikki...The cube and 100 sump have been filled since December...i used the curing of the rock as the cycle...one lesson learned...didnt need the metal halides going , hehe...however, the cyano bloom worked great as a nutrient export...i siphoned daily, and within 3...

    Let's Talk About ~Refugiums~

Great thread and info Nikki... I had a 55 fuge on my 55 reef, used a well seeded DSB and live rock and my pods were huge (all types - i used my microscope to look every now and then)...i agree on the caulerpa...i think it may affect some coral growth, especially sps...chaeto and gracilia and...

    Plumbing help please

very good advice...i like it..the simpler setup has fewer ways of being screwed up...this is what i need. so i would put flow valves on return line and drain. drain to sump 1 with spray bar...sump 1 drains through bulkhead just below water line to sump 2 and water goes thru bulkhead to mag 18...

    Ugly!!!!!!

if it is an option, the anemone and xenia should go in a fully cycled tank...i would do 10% weekly water changes, add a skimmer if not already there (or not) and wait until the water clears adn levels are nominal...hopefully the fish will makeit. make sure your specific gravity is 1.025-1.026...

    Ugly!!!!!!

any fish or larger life in there? with ammonia spike, my guess is did something die? or is the tank not fully cycled yet...should be at 12 weeks, but can you tell us a little bit more of the tank, whats' in it...was the live rock cured? live sand as in store bought? often letting the cycle...
